| UAE-based Emirates Telecommunications Corp (Etisalat), a regional telecom operator in the Gulf, has announced establishing a subsidiary in India, to cater to the growing need for software solutions in the telecom sector. |
| Etisalat Software Solutions, the subsidiary will function under the brand name 'Technologia', and will develop software solutions for the telecommunications sector, the company said in a statement. |
| "Etisalat is committed to providing the latest services to help its customers extend the reach. Through our investment in research and development, we will further our mission and generate a constant stream of new products, services and opportunities," Mohammad Khalfan Al Qamzi, Chief Executive Officer, Etisalat said. |
| The new 37,000 square feet office is located in Bangalore, and will operate as a 100 per cent export-oriented unit. Technologia will also provide software products and services to Etisalat, its subsidiaries and other telecommunication companies. The centre will house about 50 engineers to start with, which will be gradually ramped up to 250 over a period of time. |
| Globally, Etisalat provides telecommunications services in 16 countries in Africa and Asia. During fiscal 2006-07, the company had reported a consolidated revenue of $5.8 billion, an increase of 31 per cent over the previous fiscal. The company's net profit stood at $2 billion, with a 25 per cent Y-o-Y growth. |
