Vascon Weikfield IT Infopark City operational

The first phase of the Rs 200-crore Vascon Wiekfield IT City Infopark was made partially operational today, with engineering software major Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC) moving in as the first occupier of the offices. The first phase will be fully operational in two months.
 
Michael Owen, the US Consul General in Mumbai, was present at the inauguration. Promoted as a joint venture between Vascon Engineers and food products company Weikfiekd, the project is being developed on a 13-acre stretch along the Pune-Ahmednagar state highway.
 
The project entails an investment of Rs 200 crore. Vascon Engineers Chairman and Managing Director R Vasudevan said the Weikfield IT Citi Infopark is extensively looking at companies which are into IT, IT-related services and Bio Technology.
 
"PTC has occupied an area of 15,000 sq ft and we are expecting more IT players to come in," he said.
 
Vasudevan said the project has been designed through innovative use of post-tensioning technology in collaboration with Vascon's Singapore partner "� Prescrete.
 
Using the technology, Vascon has been able to achieve higher quality standards in construction and has been able to offer a much stronger structure, he added.
 
Vascon Weikfield IT Infopark also has facilities such as food courts, ATMs and banking counters, an auditorium, a business centre and a gym in its premises. Vasudevan said the entire project will be complete by 2008.
