The Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) 2025 continued with Day 4 action at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Vizag with two more exciting matches on the card. In the first match of the night, UP Yoddhas down Patna Pirates to continue thier winning streak in season 12. In the second match Puneri Paltan bashed Gujarat Giants 41-19 in a one sided affair to secuere thier second win this season.
Match 1: Patna Pirates vs UP Yoddhas
UP Yoddhas staged a spirited comeback to defeat Patna Pirates 34-31 in a thrilling Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 encounter on Monday.
The Pirates dominated the first half, with young raider Ayan Lohchab stealing the show. He notched up eight raid points, including a decisive move that removed Ashu Singh and Mohammadreza Kaboudrahangi to inflict the first All Out on the Yoddhas. Supported by Maninder Singh’s raids and Ankit’s defensive efforts, Patna went into the break with a healthy 19-13 lead.
UP Yoddhas, however, kept themselves in the contest through Gagan Gowda’s sharp raiding, while Ashu Singh and Sumit chipped in with timely defensive tackles. Yet, Patna extended their advantage early in the second half, as substitute Ankit Rana and Maninder Singh added crucial points to keep their team in control at 23-19 after 30 minutes.
The turning point came in the final 10 minutes. Sumit executed a brilliant tackle on Ayan, and Bhavani Rajput combined well with Gowda to push the Yoddhas back into contention. With defences on both sides holding firm, the game stayed on a knife’s edge until the Yoddhas forced an All Out on Patna in the 7th minute of the second half, drawing level and shifting momentum decisively.
Despite a late push from Ayan, who fell just short of a Super 10, the Yoddhas held their nerve. High Fives from Sumit and Ashu Singh, coupled with Gowda’s seven-point contribution, ensured a memorable comeback win — the Yoddhas’ second victory of the season.
Match 2: Puneri Paltan vs Gujarat Giants
The second match of the day Puneri Paltan produced a commanding display to crush Gujarat Giants 41-19 in Vizag, sealing a massive 22-point victory. The Season 10 champions showcased their all-round strength, with Abinesh Nadarajan leading the defence with a High Five, while Gaurav Khatri and Gurdeep chipped in with four tackle points each.
On the attacking front, Aslam Inamdar, Aditya Shinde and Pankaj Mohite contributed consistently, with Mohite also crossing the 400-point milestone in PKL. The Paltan set the tone early, as Inamdar and Mohite steered the raids and Nadarajan dominated in defence, helping their side secure the first all-out to build a strong lead.
By halftime, Paltan were ahead 17-11, but the second half saw them shift into top gear. Shinde’s two-point raid widened the gap, and another all-out followed quickly, leaving Gujarat with no answers. Between the two all-outs, the Giants failed to score a single point, underlining their struggles.
Patna’s defensive rock Mohammadreza Shadloui endured a rare off day, finishing with zero points for the first time since Season 8. That summed up Gujarat’s night as Puneri Paltan kept control till the final whistle.
In the end, Ajay Thakur’s men wrapped up a clinical performance, combining sharp raiding with rock-solid defence, to claim their second straight win of the season and send a strong message to rivals with a thumping 41-19 scoreline.
