Delhi LG V K Saxena has approved a proposal to forward a complaint to the CBI to probe the alleged corruption in the procurement of 1,000 low-floor buses by the DTC, official sources said on Saturday. A complaint addressed to Saxena in June this year had highlighted the appointment of the Minister of Transport as the chairman of the committee for tendering and procurement of buses by DTC in a premeditated manner. Kejriwal says Independent India made mistake, didn't focus on education

AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday launched his party's Make India No. 1' campaign, claiming the country made the mistake of not giving importance to education when it gained Independence. Beginning the campaign from his home district Hissar, he also accused the ruling BJP in Haryana and the state's previous Congress government of shutting government schools. He called it a very dangerous trend for the country. "The country should have focused on education. We should have focused on building good government schools in every nook and corner, every village and mohalla in war mode in 1947, the Delhi chief minister told reporters, pointing at the mistake made after Independence. After Haryana, the Aam Aadmi Party leader plans to visit other states as part of the new campaign. He is on a two-day trip to the state. Gujarat: Shah inaugurates 4 'smart schools', takes swipe at AAP's promises

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday took a veiled swipe at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its leader Arvind Kejriwal by stating there are people who jump into the fray five months ahead of elections with a slew of promises unlike those who work hard for five years for the public before seeking their votes. At a function to inaugurate four 'smart schools' in Ahmedabad city, Shah praised the Gujarat model of primary public education and said if any state has to learn about a model regarding education, it should come to Gujarat. He also blamed the Congress governments of Gujarat of the past for leaving primary education in the state in a poor condition. After becoming chief minister, Narendra Modi took initiatives like 'Kanya Kelavani" and 'Gunotsav' to raise the enrolment ratio to 100 percent and also brought the dropout ratio to almost zero, Shah said. "Elections are near. There are two types of people. There are people who contest elections through a political party by sweating

Kejriwal govt silent on liquor scam, diverting public attention: Delhi BJP

The Delhi BJP on Saturday accused the AAP government of being silent on the alleged liquor scam and trying to divert public attention from the matter. No immediate reaction was available from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) over the allegations. Addressing a press conference, Delhi BJP president Adesh Gupta claimed the Arvind Kejriwal government is not answering the questions asked by the BJP and the people, and is indulging in all kind of "drama" to divert attention from the scam in Excise Policy 2021-22. "The recent special session of Delhi Assembly was nothing but an attempt by the AAP government to divert attention of people from the liquor scam. Not a single issue concerning people was discussed in the five day-session, he alleged. The Excise Policy 2021-22 was withdrawn by the city government in July following a CBI probe recommended by Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena.
