BJP MP alleges 'account fudging' in Delhi govt's budget, demands CAG probe

The BJP on Friday accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of "ruining" Delhi's economy, claiming that the city government's budget for 2024-25 is in a deficit of Rs 7,000 crore. No immediate reaction was available from the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the national capital over the BJP's claims and charges. At a press conference here, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Bansuri Swaraj alleged "account fudging" in the budget and demanded a probe into it by the comptroller and auditor general (CAG). "The AAP government removed 10,000 bus marshals last year because it did not make any provisions for their salaries. The vocational teachers were also removed for the same reason," Swaraj claimed. There is less income and higher expenditure, which is why the Delhi government is in a deficit of Rs 7,000 crore, she claimed, adding that the government has no money for paying salaries and essential services like garbage disposal. The New Delhi MP alleged that the AAP is busy in "publicity and ...

AAP claims CM Atishi denied Flagstaff Road bungalow, BJP calls for sealing

In "defiance" of protocol, officers are not allotting the 6, Flagstaff Road bungalow to Delhi Chief Minister Atishi due to BJP's pressure, even as it was vacated by her predecessor Arvind Kejriwal, the AAP charged on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta accused the chief minister of "illegally" occupying the bungalow and demanded it be sealed. Atishi moved with her belongings to the bungalow in North Delhi's Civil Lines area on Monday. It was occupied for over nine years by Kejriwal who vacated it after resigning as chief minister. In a press conference, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh alleged that the bungalow yet to be allotted to Atishi and accused the BJP of trying to "usurp" the bungalow. Oppn's 'fake narrative' smashed: Fadnavis on BJP's Haryana poll victory

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday said the BJP's victory in the Haryana assembly polls has busted the "fake narrative" created by its rivals during the Lok Sabha elections held earlier this year. While the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi allies were earlier saying they were united, now they are taking potshots at each other, Fadnavis told reporters at the Nagpur airport. He also said the seat-sharing discussions of the ruling Mahayuti, comprising the BJP, Shiv Sena led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar's NCP, were almost in the final stage. Elections to the 288-member Maharashtra assembly are likely to be held next month. Bucking anti-incumbency, the ruling BJP pulled off a hat-trick of wins in Haryana to retain power and halt Congress' comeback attempt in the assembly elections, results of which were announced Tuesday. While the BJP ended up with its best-ever haul of 48 seats, the Congress got 37 seats in Haryana. To a query on

BJP's Haryana win will have positive impact on Maharashtra polls: Shiv Sena

The BJP's victory in Haryana will have a positive impact on the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections, Shiv Sena minister Shambhuraj Desai said on Wednesday, expressing confidence that Mahayuti alliance will clinch a victory. Addressing a press conference with Mahayuti leaders and BJP MLC Prasad Lad, the coordinator of the alliance, Desai said the Mahayuti allies have completed the "homework" for the selection of nominees and sharing of seats. "Haryana polls will definitely impact Maharashtra elections positively," Desai added. CM Saini meets PM Modi after BJP's hat-trick win in Haryana elections

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini will be meeting the senior BJP leadership in Delhi on Wednesday, a day after the ruling party pulled off a hat-trick of wins in Haryana to retain power. Saini is likely to consult with his senior leadership on finalising his cabinet, sources said. Bucking anti-incumbency, the ruling BJP pulled off a hat-trick of wins in Haryana to retain power and halt Congress' comeback attempt in the assembly elections, results of which were announced Tuesday. Thanking the voters, Saini had said on Tuesday that people have "put a stamp" on the government's policies under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. While the BJP ended up with its best-ever haul of 48 seats, 11 more than the Congress, parties like the JJP and the AAP were decimated and the INLD managed to win just two seats. The AAP had contested on its own. Proving wrong exit polls which predicted a comfortable Congress win, the BJP will be forming government in Haryana for the third consecuti

Congress an irresponsible party, factory to spread hatred: PM Modi

A day after Congress' defeat in the Haryana polls, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said the Congress is an irresponsible party and a factory to "spread hatred" which wants to divide Hindus and pit one community against another. The BJP has won the Haryana assembly elections and it shows the mood of the country, Modi said, adding that "in Maharashtra we have to get a bigger victory." The opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) wants to weaken Maharashtra to gain power, but the ruling Mahayuti will strengthen the state, he said after virtually inaugurating various development projects of more than Rs 7,600 crore in the state. Elections to the 22-member Maharashtra assembly are likely to be held next month. Modi said never before has Maharashtra seen the expeditious development of projects. Under the Congress regime, the same speed and scale was witnessed in terms of corruption, the PM said. "The Congress is an irresponsible party and a factory to spread hatred. The Congress is
