BJP inducing voters by offering bonus for poll survey: DMK in plaint to EC

The ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu on Monday accused the BJP of inducing voters by offering a bonus for a poll survey on its website for the ongoing Lok Sabha election, and urged the Election Commission of India to take appropriate action on saffron party. Offering bonus/gifts to those who participated in the poll survey amounts to bribing the voters, DMK Organisation Secretary R S Bharathi argued, and said that the Model Code of Conduct was equally applicable to candidates and their parties during elections. "A national party advertising election bonus is certainly an inducement to the voters, much less direct offering of money to the voters to vote in favour of the BJP," Bharathi said in a petition to the ECI and also to Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer Satyabrata Sahoo. He said that the advertisement admittedly issued by the BJP with the heading 'BJP Election Bonus' on the party website is a clear violation of section 123 (1A) of the Representation of People Act, 1951. Cong lists 'failures' of WCD, says will usher era of women's safety in June

The Congress on Monday listed "massive failures" of the Ministry of Women and Child Development (WCD) in the last 10 years and asserted that a new era of women's safety, prosperity, and development will begin when its government "takes charge in June". Congress general secretary in-charge communications Jairam Ramesh said the formation of a Congress-led government in June 2024 will end the "10 years of anyaay-kaal for women". He alleged the BJP government's slogans of 'nari shakti' remain empty words without real action. For 10 years, the WCD Ministry has seen only "incompetence, apathy, and an anti-women mindset," Ramesh said. "While minister Smriti Irani herself remains silent as women across India are assaulted, waking up only for crimes in Opposition-ruled states, her ministry diverts funds away from necessary schemes and hardworking women," he claimed. Ramesh alleged that the five "massive failures" of the ministry are: "crimes against women and children have doubled; shrinki

Self-serving politics of BJP: Cong slams for withholding funds for K'taka

The Congress on Monday accused the Modi government of withholding funds that should "rightfully" go to Karnataka, saying the people of the state are being made to pay the price just because they exercised their democratic right to elect a Congress government. Congress general secretary in-charge, communications, Jairam Ramesh alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is constantly trying to "throttle" the finances of India's states. His remarks came after Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah alleged in a post on X that Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is consistently denying the written word. "The interim report of the 15 FC (Finance Commission) for 2020-21 sanctioned Rs 6764 crores for three states, viz Karnataka (Rs 5495 crores), Telangana (Rs 723 crores) & Mizoram (Rs 546 crores)," Siddaramaiah said. Kejriwal arrested to divert attention from electoral bonds scam: Kerala CM

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Sunday said the electoral bonds scam is the biggest corruption ever witnessed in India and added the BJP government at the Centre arrested his Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal to divert attention from the same. Addressing the third consecutive rally organised here by the CPI(M) against the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), Vijayan alleged the BJP-led Central government and the Sangh Parivar give scant regard to the rule of the law in the country. He alleged that the Sangh Parivar was trying to take control of the Constitutional institutions and even threatening the country's judiciary. "The Union government, BJP, Sangh Parivar, they all very well know that the Supreme Court order on the electoral bond scam was harmful to them. They wanted to divert the attention from this topic and for that they have arrested Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal," Vijayan said. The chief minister said when the idea of electoral bonds was floated, the CPI(
