Chhattisgarh elections 2023: Amit Shah to address two BJP rallies in Bastar

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will on Thursday address two rallies in Chhattisgarh's Bastar division, where polling will be held in the first phase on November 7, a BJP leader said. This will be Shah's second visit to the Congress-ruled state after the announcement of election schedule for the 90-member assembly. The former BJP president, a key poll strategist of the party, earlier addressed an election rally in Rajnandgaon on October 16. Voting in the state will be held in two phases on November 7 and 17. Shah will arrive at the Maa Danteshwari Airport in Jagdalpur from New Delhi shortly after noon, said the BJP leader. The Union minister will attend a public meeting and nomination rally at Lalbagh Maidan in Jagdalpur, he said. Shah will later leave for Kondagaon where he will attend another election meeting and nomination rally at Police Ground, he said. Mumbai Congress chief Varsha Gaikwad has claimed the city's air quality index has surpassed the danger level in the last few days due to which people are suffering from respiratory problems, and asked the Maharashtra government to implement the previous MVA regime's climate action plan. She also demanded an audit of expenses of all projects in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and criticised the manifold increase in their costs. "The state government should at least take into account views of the opposition parties in matters of public interest," Gaikwad said in a statement. BJP releases list of 12 candidates for Mizoram Assembly polls due on Nov 7

The BJP on Wednesday released the names of its candidates for 12 assembly seats in Mizoram, where polls are slated to be held on November 7. In a separate notification, the party named Bhavna Bohra as its candidate for the Pandaria assembly seat in Chhattisgarh, where polling will be held in two phases on November 7 and November 17. According to the BJP's list for the Mizoram assembly polls, R Lalbiaktluangi will contest from the Lunglei West seat, Shanti Bikash Chakma from Thorang, Malsawmtluanga from Hachhek and Vanlalhmuaka from the Dampa seat. The BJP's central election committee, which includes Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and party chief J P Nadda, approved the names of the candidates for the Mizoram and Chhattisgarh assembly polls.

Committee calls BJP MP Dubey for statement in complaint against Mahua

The Lok Sabha's Ethics Committee on Wednesday asked BJP MP Nishikant Dubey and advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai to appear before it for "oral evidence" on October 26 in connection with his "cash for query" allegations against TMC MP Mahua Moitra. "Oral evidence of Dr. Nishikant Dubey, MP, in respect of complaint dated 15 October, 2023 given by him against Smt. Mahua Moitra, MP for alleged direct involvement in cash for query in Parliament," the subject of the Lok Sabha secretariat communication to him read. BJP vice president and former Chhattisgarh chief minister Raman Singh on Wednesday urged the Election Commission of India to postpone the second phase of Chhattisgarh assembly polls scheduled on November 17 in view of the Chhath festival. He said a large number of voters will not be able to take part in the electoral process due to the festival.
