ITC moves NCLT against Hotel Leelaventure

Diverdified group ITC has moved National Company Law Tribunal against Hotel Leelaventure alleging "oppression and mismanagement". ITC's current plea was mentioned before the Mumbai bench of the NCLT, which has posted the matter for hearing tomorrow, Hotel Leelaventure said in a regulatory filing. ITC, along with the petition has also filed two application seeking waiver of the requirement of minimum threshold of 10 per cent shareholding, it added. As per the latest information available on bourses, ITC holds a total of 7.92 per cent share stake in Hotel Leelaventure. Shares of Hotel Leelaventure Ltd were trading at Rs 10.46 on the BSE during afternoon trade, down 0.38 per cent from its previous close.

Gold futures weaken on spot demand

Gold prices fell by Rs 15 to Rs 31,581 per 10 gram in futures trade Tuesday on weak demand as strong equities reduced gold's appeal. Investor sentiment in stock market turned positive in early trade Tuesday on reports that India has lined up alternate sources to make up for the likely shortfall in supplies after the US decided not to give waiver from its sanctions for buying oil from Iran, traders said. Besides, strengthening rupee also exerted pressure on gold futures. At the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for delivery in June traded lower by Rs 15, or 0.05 per cent, at Rs 31,581 per 10 gram in a business turnover of 14,014 lots. Gold for delivery in August fell by Rs 25, or 0.08 per cent, to Rs 31,740 per 10 gram in 3,018 lots. However, globally, gold was trading higher by 0.01 per cent at USD 1,273.64 an ounce in Singapore.

Honda Cars launches new Amaze variant at Rs 8.56 lakh

Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) Tuesday said it has launched a new top variant of its compact sedan Amaze. The company has launched the new grade VX CVT trim in both petrol and diesel versions of the sedan. The petrol variant is priced at Rs 8.56 lakh while the diesel trim is tagged at Rs 9.56 lakh (ex-showroom). "The second generation Honda Amaze set a new benchmark in its segment with over 20 per cent of our customers opting for advanced CVT variants in both petrol and diesel," HCIL Senior Vice President and Director Sales & Marketing Rajesh Goel said in a statement. "We are delighted to introduce the new VX CVT variant of Honda Amaze to complete the top spec VX range and offer increased choice to our customers," he added. The variant now comes with various additional features like rear camera with guidelines and seamless smartphone connectivity among others.

GST investigation arm finds P&G India guilty of profiteering Rs 250 cr

The GST profiteering investigation arm has found leading FMCG firm P&G India guilty of not passing on GST rate cut benefits to the tune of about Rs 250 crore by commensurate reduction in prices. Based on a complaint filed before the standing committee, the Directorate General of Anti profiteering (DGAP) investigated the books of accounts of P&G India pre and post November 15, 2017, and concluded that the consumer goods manufacturer has not lowered prices of certain of its products despite cut in GST rate to 18 per cent from 28 per cent. "The DGAP report has concluded profiteering worth Rs 250 crore by P&G. The National Anti Profiteering Authority will pass a final order on the quantum of profiteering after hearing the company's views," an official said. Pharmaceutical exports rise 11 pc to $19.2 bn in 2018-19

The country's pharmaceutical exports rose by 11 per cent to USD 19.2 billion in 2018-19, mainly driven by higher demand in regions such as North America and Europe, as per a commerce ministry data. The pharma exports in 2017-18 stood at USD 17.3 billion and USD 16.7 billion in the previous fiscal. North America constitutes about 30 per cent of Indian pharma exports, followed by Africa and the European Union with 19 per cent and 16 per cent share, respectively, according to the data. According to industry experts, Chinese market is also gradually opening up and the government is working to push India's exports there as it holds huge potential. The other important destinations include South Africa, Russia, Nigeria, Brazil and Germany, where exports are registering growth. The sector accounted for about 6 per cent of the country's total exports of USD 331 billion in 2018-19. It is one of the top five sectors in the exports segment. LS polls: 35.70 pc voter turnout in Maha till 1 pm

An average 35.70 per cent voter turnout was recorded till 1 pm in 14 seats of Maharashtra where polling for the third phase of Lok Sabha elections was underway on Tuesday, an official said. Polling began at 7 am and long queues were seen outside many booths. The Kolhapur Lok Sabha constituency reported 42.04 per cent voting till 1 pm, followed by Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg, where there was 39.93 per cent polling, according to the state election office. mfine raises $17.2 mn from Japan's SBI Investment, others

Health-tech AI startup mfine Tuesday said it has raised USD 17.2 million from Japanese venture capital firm SBI Investment, SBI Ven Capital Pte Ltd and others. The series B round also saw participation from BEENEXT, Singapore; Stellaris Venture Partners; and Prime Venture Partners. Including the current funding round, the startup has raised over USD 24 million and has 200 employees in Bengaluru and Hyderabad. As part of its expansion plans, the company plans to onboard over 2,500 doctors from 250 hospitals on its platform and reach 1.5 lakh consultations a month in the next one year, mfine said in a statement.
