Hong Kong's Risland enters Indian realty mkt

Hong Kong-based realty firm Risland Holdings has forayed into Indian real estate market and will develop its first housing project in the national capital at an estimated cost of Rs 700 crore, a senior company official said. Risland has tied up with local developer Uppal group to construct a residential project near Chhattarpur in the national capital. Uppal group owns 4.1 acre of land. "Sky Mansion is our first project in India - a 100-metre tall ultra luxury residential condominium that is set to redefine the skyline of South Delhi," Risland Director for India (NCR) Li Qiongjia said. The construction work has already started and the project would be ready for possession in November 2021. The construction contract has been awarded to CCTEB India (China Construction Third Engineering Bureau). Jet Airways shares plunge nearly 15 pc

Shares of Jet Airways Tuesday plummeted nearly 15 per cent amid reports that the Hinduja Group and Etihad Airways may not proceed with plans to resurrect the debt-ridden airline. The scrip tumbled 14.41 per cent to Rs 107.15 -- its 52- week low -- on the BSE. At NSE, shares plunged 14.82 per cent to hit one-year low of Rs 106.30. According to a media report, Hinduja Group and Etihad Airways PJSC may not proceed with plans to resurrect Jet Airways. Meanwhile, in a major setback to the lenders' revival/sale plan of the grounded Jet Airways, two operational creditors -- Shaman Wheels and Gaggar Enterprises-- Monday moved the NCLT seeking bankruptcy proceedings against the airline. The tribunal issued notices to Jet Airways and banks which own the airline now and posted the matter for further hearing on June 13 when it will decide on admitting or rejecting the bankruptcy pleas. Jet Airways owes more than Rs 8,000 crore to an SBI-led consortium of banks which now run the airline.

Indiabulls Housing Finance shares tank 8.5% amid allegations of siphoning off funds

Shares of Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (IBHFL) dropped 8.5 per cent Tuesday following allegations of siphoning off Rs 98,000 crore of public money. The scrip plunged 8.32 per cent to Rs 672.05 on the BSE. At NSE, shares of the company tumbled 8.46 per cent to Rs 671.25. A plea was filed in the Supreme Court Monday seeking legal action against IBHFL, its Chairman and directors for alleged misappropriation of Rs 98,000 crore of public money. Terming the allegations "bizarre", IBHFL on Monday said the writ petition filed in the apex court is an attempt to "malign" the company's reputation and create hurdles in its merger with Lakshmi Vilas Bank. "The total loans on the books of IBHFL is approx Rs 90,000 crore. The allegations of siphoning off Rs 98,000 crore is bizarre," IBHFL said in a statement.

GST council to introduce new GST return system

Four supplementary prosecution complaints filed against Gautam Khaitan in Income Tax special court

On June 7, the Directorate of Income Tax (investigation) has filed four supplementary prosecution complaints for fiscal year 2009-10 to 2012-13 before the income-tax special court against Gautam Khaitan, who is also one of the accused in the Rs 3,600 crore AgustaWestland scam.These complaints have been filed for offence under section 276C (1) (willful attempt to evade tax) and 277 (giving false statement on oath) of the Income-tax Act 1961.The Income Tax department had earlier filed five complaints in 2017 under Income Tax Act 1961 against Khaitan for maintaining four bank accounts in Singapore in the name of BVI based shell companies as well as his own name. Later, four complaints were filed under Black Money (Undisclosed Foreign Income and Assets) and Imposition of Tax Act against Gautam and Ms Ritu Khaitan in 2018.Income Tax department has received fresh evidence which shows that Gautam Khaitan was maintaining three more bank accounts in his own name in Singapore. Cremica sets up Rs 120 cr mega food park in HP

Cremica Food Industries, which manufactures mayonnaise, tomato ketchup and sauces, has set up a 55-acre mega food park in Himachal Pradesh with an investment of Rs 120 crore for processing of agriculture and horticulture crops, a top company official said. The mega food park, which is equipped with modern food processing infrastructure facility, is expected to attract a further investment of Rs 300 crore from upcoming units, its CMD Akshay Bector said. Already 3-4 plants have been finalised in this food park, which has been set up under the mega food park programme of the central government. This includes a pickle unit at Rs 15-20 crore project cost, a jam unit at Rs 5 crore cost and apple juice and puree line with an investment of about Rs 20 crore. "There are discussions going on for setting up of 6 more units, which includes 2 units from Cremica itself and 4 units from others," Bector said.
