Circular economy to boost dairy farmers' income by 20% in 5 years: Shah

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Saturday expressed confidence that implementation of the circular economy model across the country will increase dairy farmers' income by 20 per cent in the next five years. Shah was addressing cattle rearers associated with Banas Dairy at an event held at Sanadar village in Gujarat's Vav-Tharad district to mark the inauguration of the dairy's bio-CNG and fertiliser plant and ground-breaking of its milk powder plant. He praised Banas Dairy's management for successfully developing a model for a circular economy in the dairy sector, which includes generating extra income for farmers through various means, such as converting cattle dung into biogas and bio-fertiliser. Govt aims 50% rise in milk procurement with White Revolution 2.0: Amit Shah

The government is working to increase milk procurement by 50 per cent over the next five years under the cooperative-led White Revolution 2.0, Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah said on Tuesday. Chairing the second meeting of the Parliamentary Consultative Committee, Shah outlined the government's ambitious plans for the cooperative sector, including the target of setting up 2 lakh multipurpose cooperative societies. So far, 35,395 new cooperative societies have been formed under this initiative. "The Ministry of Cooperation is committed to transforming cooperatives into vibrant and successful business units," Shah said, emphasising that the cooperative sector could pave the way to prosperity for landless and poor people. Under the White Revolution 2.0, significant progress has been made in strengthening the dairy sector. Godrej Agrovet buys 7.37 lakh shares in Godrej Cattle Genetics for Rs 25 cr

Godrej Agrovet has bought 7.37 lakh shares in its subsidiary Godrej Cattle Genetics for Rs 25 crore through the rights issue. Godrej Cattle Genetics Pvt Ltd (GCGPL), the wholly-owned subsidiary of Godrej Agrovert, is engaged in agri-business and its principal business activities includes dairy farming and developing high-breed cattle and cattle embryo. In a regulatory filing on Thursday, the company informed that it has been allotted 7,37,463 fresh equity shares of GCGPL at a face value of Rs 10 per share. "The company has made additional investment aggregating up to Rs 25 crore in the equity share capital of GCGPL by way of subscription to the rights issue," the filing said. Godrej Agrovet had 100 per cent equity in GCGPL. Post acquisition of fresh equity shares, GCGPL will continue to be a wholly-owned subsidiary.

Efforts to increase better veterinary services to minimise losses: Rupala

Efforts to increase the availability and accessibility of better veterinary health services have to be made to minimise economic losses due to animal diseases, Union Minister Parshottam Rupala said on Friday. The Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying chaired the inter-session meeting of the Consultative Committee attached to his Ministry here. Ministers of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Sanjeev Kumar Balyan and L Murugan, and members of the committee also attended the meeting. The committee deliberated on various aspects of "strengthening of veterinary services through mobile units and implementation of vaccination programme in the country". While chairing the meeting, Rupala said India has a vast resource of livestock and poultry, which play a vital role in improving the socio-economic conditions of rural masses.
