Vikas Kumar appointed Delhi Metro Rail Corp's director of operations

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has appointed Vikas Kumar, an Indian Railway Traffic Service officer, as the director of operations, officials said on Wednesday. The DMRC has the largest operational metro network in the country, spanning over 390 km, and has strengthened its operation and maintenance (O&M) wing with new appointments, they said. Vikas Kumar, an officer of the 1988-batch of the Indian Railway Traffic Service, who was earlier working as executive director of operations in the DMRC, has been appointed as Director (Operations), the Delhi Metro said in a statement. Also, A K Garg, who was so far looking after operation and maintenance, as Director (Operations), has been appointed Director (Infrastructure), it said. Kumar is an electrical engineering graduate from IIT-Roorkee (1987) and did his M.Tech from IIT-Delhi in 1989. Mangu Singh's tenure as DMRC MD extended till March 31 next year

The government has extended the tenure of Mangu Singh as the managing director of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation till March 31, 2022, according to an official order issued on Wednesday. The extension comes amid the ongoing work on Ph-IV of the Delhi Metro network, as new construction and operations were severely hit earlier due to the coronavirus pandemic and the lockdowns it had induced. Delhi: Metro services affected on Red Line section due to technical issues

Services were affected for nearly 90 minutes on a section of the Red Line of the Delhi Metro due to some technical issues on Tuesday, officials said. The Red Line connects Rithala in Delhi and Shahid Sthal (Bus Stand) in Ghaziabad. "Services were affected for about an hour and a half on a section of the corridor due to some technical issues with the OHE (overhead equipment) line at Rithala," a senior official said. The Delhi Metro had also tweeted around 8.30 am to inform commuters about the delay in services. "Red Line Update Delay in service between Pitampura and Rithala. Normal services on all other lines," the DMRC tweeted. The technical issue was later resolved and normal services were resumed, the official said. About 10 am, the DMRC again tweeted, "Red Line Update. Normal service has resumed.
