St Stephen's College and St Thomas School here received bomb threats through email on Tuesday, prompting authorities to launch a thorough search operation, with officials saying nothing suspicious has been found so far. Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Raja Banthia said St Stephen's College reported that they received the bomb threat at 7:15 am. "The mail claimed that four IEDs and two RDX bombs have been planted on the premises and in the library of the college. It further claimed that those would explode by 2 pm," the police officer was quoted as saying in a statement. Teams from the Maurice Nagar Police Station and other agencies reached the spot, and the entire premises were cordoned off. Crime in Delhi down by 8.4%, decline of 10% in rape and Pocso cases

With a 10 per cent decline in rape and POSCO cases, the national capital saw an 8.38 per cent decline in the overall crime in the first half of 2025 compared to the same period last year, according to Delhi Police data. Marking a drop of about 10,000 cases, from January 1 to June 30, 2025, a total of 1,18,822 cases were registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Indian Penal Code (IPC), compared to 1,29,693 cases in the same period of 2024, the data showed. Heinous crimes such as murder, rape, robbery and kidnapping fell by 13.13 per cent compared to 2023 and 10.39 per cent in contrast to 2024, according to the data. The data showed cases of murder rose from 241 last year to 250 in 2025, whereas rape and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) cases declined by about 10 per cent. A drunk driver of an Audi car allegedly ran over five people, including two couples and an eight-year-old girl, injuring them while they were sleeping on a footpath near Shiva Camp in southwest Delhi's Vasant Vihar area, an official said on Saturday. The incident occurred around 1:45 am on July 9 and the driver of the car, Utsav Shekhar (40), was apprehended, he said, adding that his medical reports confirmed that he was drunk at the time of the incident. By the time officers reached the scene, the injured were already taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. The victims have been identified as Ladhi (40), her eight-year-old daughter Bimla, husband Sabami alias Chirma (45), Ram Chander (45) and his wife Narayani (35), all residents of Rajasthan. Delhi Police directs Aerocity outlets to store CCTV footage for 90 days

The Delhi Police has directed all commercial establishments, including hotels and petrol pumps, in the Aerocity area to install "a sufficient number" of CCTV cameras covering a 50-metre radius in front of their premises, with mandatory storage of footage for at least 90 days. According to an order issued by ACP Vir Krishan Pal Singh (sub-division, Palam, IGI, airport), anyone contravening the order will be liable to be punished in accordance with the provisions of Section 223(a), which refers to disobedience of an order by a public servant, of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The order, which comes ahead of Independence Day, will remain in force till September 2, officials said. "The owner/manager of the hotel/guest house/restaurant/petrol pump should ensure that the CCTV system is in proper working order and in case any defect is noticed, immediate action to get it rectified should be taken," according to the order issued last week. Eighteen Bangladeshi nationals staying illegally in Delhi have been apprehended. Five of those detained had been living in the national capital disguised as transgenders, police said on Saturday. The police found a banned messaging app installed in seven mobile phones of the accused, using which they communicated with their families in Bangladesh, they said. During the first operation, police cordoned off nearly 100 jhuggis and 150 lanes in the locality and conducted verification drives, a senior police officer said. One person, initially evasive during questioning, later confessed to being a Bangladeshi national, the officer said. Following further inquiry, his family members were also traced. A total of 13 Bangladeshi nationals -- 10 adults and three children -- were found residing without valid travel documents or permits, violating provisions of the Foreigners Act, 1946, the police said. One killed in massive fire at banquet hall near west Delhi's DLF Moti Nagar

A man died in a massive fire, which broke out at a banquet hall near west Delhi's DLF Moti Nagar area, an official on Tuesday said. The deceased, identified as Rajesh, is a carpenter by profession, he said. Two people were initially trapped in the fire that broke out at 8.47 pm on Monday. While one managed to escape, Rajesh got trapped in the fire. "Prima facie, Rajesh died due to suffocation. However, the exact cause of death will be ascertained after post-mortem," a senior police officer said. Initially, 18 fire tenders were rushed to the spot with six more dispatched later on. "We received a call regarding a fire at 8.47 pm at Golden Banquet Hall opposite DLF Moti Nagar. A total of 24 fire tenders were rushed to the site," a Delhi Fire Services (DFS) official said. Delhi Police busts aviation fuel smuggling racket, 6 held in ₹1.62 cr scam

The Delhi Police on Monday claimed to have busted a racket siphoning off aviation turbine fuel from tankers meant for the international airport here and selling those in the open market as mineral turpentine oil, causing monthly loss of over Rs 1.62 crore to the national exchequer. The illegal operation running for over three years was uncovered following a tip-off received on Sunday, and led to the arrest of six people and detention of two others. The racket is said to be causing a loss of over Rs 1.62 crore to the exchequer every month, with an estimated 5,000 litres of fuel being stolen daily. Delhi Police deports 71 foreign nationals from Dwarka for illegal stay

The Delhi Police deported 71 foreign nationals, including Bangladeshis, Rohingyas from Myanmar, and Nigerians, who were found staying illegally in the country, an official said on Friday. In May alone, 71 such individuals -- 47 from Bangladesh, 17 Rohingyas from Myanmar and seven from Nigeria -- were apprehended by various police units of Dwarka and sent to a detention centre after being produced before the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO). Different units and police stations, including Uttam Nagar and Chhawla, launched coordinated operations to identify foreign nationals illegally residing in the area. JNU student missing case: Delhi court to decide on closure report on Jun 30

A Delhi court would on June 30 decide whether or not to accept a police report recommending closure of a case on the disappearance of former JNU student Najeeb Ahmed, who went missing on October 15, 2016. Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Jyoti Maheshwari on Thursday posted the matter on June 30 after seeking clarifications from the CBI in the matter. The court would also decide on a protest plea filed against it by Ahmed's mother Fatima Nafees. The CBI in October 2018 closed its investigation into the case as the agency's efforts to trace Ahmed, a Master's student at JNU, yielded no results. The agency filed its closure report before the court in the case after getting permission from the Delhi High Court. The Delhi Police has arrested a man from Rajasthan for allegedly aiding Pakistani Intelligence Operatives (PIOs) by supplying Indian mobile SIM cards for espionage activities, officials said on Thursday. The accused, identified as Kasim (34), had travelled to Pakistan twice -- first in August 2024 and again in March 2025 -- and stayed there for about 90 days, they said. During his visits, he is suspected to have met officials of the Pakistan's spy agency Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), a senior police officer said. A team of Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of Delhi Police in South West District arrested one drug peddler and seized a total 83090 tablets of banned pharma drugs (Alprazolam & Zolpidem) and 26,000 packets of prohibited foreign cigarettes from Mehram Nagar area of Delhi Cantt, police said on Wednesday.According to a statement, the crackdown on the prohibited narcotics medicine unfolded when Delhi police received credible information regarding certain international cargo courier service operators in the Mehram Nagar area who are involved in supplying these medicines and imported cigarettes.The information revealed that the peddlers have set up a few godowns in the Mehram Nagar area where these prohibited items are being stored.The ANTF team of Delhi police led further investigation and identified the suspect's location in Mehram Nagar. Delhi Police plans unified platform to combat rising digital arrest frauds

Delhi Police is formulating a multi-pronged strategy to tackle the rising cases of digital arrest frauds, which includes setting up a centralised complaint mechanism and compiling a database of gangs involved in such crimes, officials said on Saturday. EOW arrests Delhi builder for siphoning off crores from private bank

The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Delhi Police has arrested a real estate developer for allegedly cheating and siphoning off crores of rupees from a private bank, police said on Monday. The accused, Anil Mithas (52), a resident of Noida, is the director and majority stakeholder of a real estate group, the police said. The private bank had sanctioned loans of Rs 100 crore and Rs 65 crore in 2016 and 2017 for the construction of projects in Noida and Gurgaon by M/s Unnati Fortune Holding Limited (UFHL). However, it was found that Mithas had allegedly misrepresented facts and siphoned off the loan amount. In 2019, M/s Nupur Finvest Pvt Ltd, a financial creditor, approached the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), alleging that UFHL had mortgaged the same 75 flats with them and later with the private bank. The NCLT initiated insolvency proceedings and appointed an Insolvency Resolution Professional (IRP), who ordered an audit of UFHL. The audit allegedly revealed major financial .
