3 killed, 1 injured as bikes collide in HP
Three people were killed and one person was injured when two motorcycles collided-head on in Jawalamukhi sub-division of Himachal Pradesh's Kangra district Saturday evening, police said. The accident occurred in Purtiyala village at 4.05 pm, they said. Two people died on the spot, whereas the third person succumbed to injuries at a hospital here.
Official: Divers see Lion Air jet fuselage, new 'ping' heard
Divers reported seeing the fuselage and engines of the crashed Lion Air jet on the seafloor and a ping locator has detected a signal that may be from the cockpit voice recorder, Indonesia's search and rescue chief said Saturday. Speaking on the sixth day of the search, Muhammad Syaugi said that two engines and more landing gear had been found. Kashmir Valley cut off due to heavy snowfall
Surface and air links between the Kashmir Valley and rest of the country were snapped due to heavy snowfall here, officials said. The season's first snowfall in Srinagar began on Saturday afternoon and several inches of snow had accumulated in the city. An official of the MeT Department said this was first time since 2009 that Srinagar city witnessed snowfall in November. "So rare is the occurrence that in the last two decades, it was only the fourth time that it has snowed in Srinagar in November with 2008 and 2004 being the earlier instances," he said. Reports of heavy snowfall were received from other district headquarters and major towns of the Valley as well, officials said, adding that it continued to snow in the higher reaches of Kashmir for the second day, triggering avalanches at some places. Lightning strike kills man, injures two in J-K's Reasi
A 50-year-old man was killed and two others were injured when they were struck by lightning in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said Saturday. Farooq Ahmad Bakarwal, his daughter Rafia and uncle Abdullah were hit by the lightning inside their house at Kun Darorian village in the Katra area around midnight, a police official said. He said Bakarwal died on the spot, while his daughter and uncle were injured and shifted to a hospital.

Diver dies in search for Indonesia jet crash dead
An Indonesian diver died while recovering body parts from the ill-fated Lion Air plane which crashed into the sea killing 189 people, an official said Saturday. Syachrul Anto, 48, who died on Friday, was part of the team searching for body parts and debris from the jet in the Java Sea. "He was a volunteer with the Search and Rescue Agency," Isswarto, commander of the Indonesian navy's search and rescue division, told AFP. It is believed he died from decompression, he added. Anto had previously served in Palu which suffered from an earthquake and tsunami in September and also took part in the evacuation process of an Air Asia plane crash nearly four years ago. Person dead, another missing after Amazon building collapse
The fire department says one person is dead and another was unaccounted after a weather-related building collapse at an Amazon distribution warehouse on Baltimore's southeast side, the Baltimore Sun reports. Chief Roman Clark tells the Sun that a 50-foot wall collapsed late Friday at the Amazon Fulfillment Center as a storm hit the area. Clark says one person was found under debris and taken to a hospital, where the person was pronounced dead, the Sun reports. He adds that a second person was unaccounted for. Images taken from outside the facility showed a badly damaged truck and a knocked over light pole, the Sun reports. The National Weather Service had earlier warned of thunderstorms in the area, with some producing gusty winds and heavy rain.

A person was killed in a shooting at a Florida yoga studio before the gunman fatally shot himself.Tallahassee Police Chief Michael DeLeo confirmed the same and said that four people, who were injured in the shootout, were in a critical condition, according to US media reports.According to express.co.uk, the incident took place at Thomasville Road and Bradford Road in Tallahassee city. AI cancels Jeddah flight after 8-hour delay
National carrier Air India cancelled a Jeddah-bound flight from the city via Hyderabad late Friday night, eight hours after its scheduled departure time and without offering any reason to around 300 harried passengers. Flight AI 965 was scheduled to take off at 1500 hrs but the airline informed the passengers only at around 2300 hrs that it was being pulled out of operations. A harried passenger, VKS Menon, who was flying with his wife and his elderly mother-in-law to Hyderabad, told PTI that the airline staff were not forthcoming in offering any explanation for the inordinate delay. The staff finally announced that they were cancelling the flight around 2300 hrs, he said. Nine people of a family, including two girls sustained burn injuries in a fire incident that occurred during a religious ritual here Friday, police said. The incident happened in Pitambara Colony where Ashok Kushwah had organised a Hawan ritual for his son's birthday, they said. Some inflammable liquid caught fire by accident and the family members seated nearby received burn injuries, they added. The injured were rushed to a government where two are reportedly critical, they said.
Man severely injured after septic tank explodes in Navi Mumbai
A 28-year-old man was Friday injured after the septic tank of a public toilet in neighbouring Navi Mumbai exploded due to accumulation of toxic gases, a Fire Brigade official said. The 28-year-old man was using the facility when the explosion in the septic tank occurred, the official said, adding that the impact was such that the roofs of the toilet and of a house nearby were blown off. The man has sustained severe injuries in the incident which took place in Sector 7 of Rabale area and is undergoing treatment at Vashi general hospital, he said. Near-miss incident: IndiGo says separation between both planes was within regulatory requirements
A day after AAI officials said that two IndiGo aircraft averted a mid-air collision, the airline said Friday both planes had "sufficient horizontal and vertical separation" within the regulatory requirements. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) officials had said that possible collision of the two IndiGo aircraft was averted after the Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower in Kolkata instructed one plane to turn right and move away from the other one that had come at the same level. The incident happened at the border airspace of India and Bangladesh, AAI officials said Thursday. When contacted, AAI Regional Executive Director (Eastern Region) S P Yadav Friday said, "Our stand is the same", referring to the incident. After ruling out investigation, Railways agrees to probe Amritsar tragedy
The Chief Commissioner of Railway Safety will probe the Amritsar tragedy in which 60 Dussehra revellers were mowed down by a passing train, the Indian Railways said Friday, nearly two weeks after it had ruled out any investigation in the tragedy. A day after the accident on October 19, the railways had termed it a "case of trespassing". In a statement Friday, the railways, however, said since the CCRS can conduct an inquiry even in those cases where it is not mandatory as per law and rules, it will do the same in this case as well. It said the accident has "become a matter of great public discourse", especially raising concerns about safety of people trespassing on railway tracks.
