Employer-employee hiring expectations gap continues to grow: Report

Around 34 per cent of organisations in the country struggle to find the right talent and one in three grapples with retaining existing employees as the gap between employer expectations and employee realities regarding hiring and retention continues to grow, according to a report. Even as employers and job seekers agree that flexibility, higher salaries and career progression are top priorities, employees value company culture and ethics more than the organisations realise while organisations overvalue the importance of brand and incentives, said Michael Page 'Talent Trends 2024 - India Expectation Gap' report. Coming out of the pandemic, a convergence of factors resulted in a subtle but transformative change in workplace dynamics, with people thinking more holistically about the value their job gives to their lives, said Nicolas Dumoulin, Michael Page Senior Managing Director for India, Thailand, Philippines, and Vietnam. The Centre has warned of strict action against its employees for tardiness and said that habitual late attendance and early leaving from office should be viewed seriously by the authorities concerned. The move comes after it noticed that several employees were not registering their attendance in an Aadhaar Enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS) and "some of the employees have been coming late on a regular basis". In an order, the Personnel Ministry suggested use of a mobile phone-based face authentication system that provides "live location detection and geo-tagging" among others as well. The matter of strict implementation of AEBAS has recently been reviewed and taking a serious note of the laxity in its implementation, it is "reiterated that all MDOs (ministry/department/organisation) will regularly monitor the attendance reports", according to the order. "Habitual late attendance and early leaving of office should be viewed seriously and be essentially discouraged. Strict .

Missed timelines, manpower crunch pose challenges for insolvency resolution

Resolution of most of the stressed assets under the insolvency law missed their timelines amid a shortage of staff at the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) and the appellate tribunal this year, which also saw aviation players seeking solace in insolvency provisions albeit without much success. As the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) timelines stretched well beyond their specified limits, the companies undergoing the resolution process saw an erosion in the value of their assets. As of September this year, creditors have realised Rs 3.16 lakh crore by way of resolutions under the IBC since it came into force in December 2016, as per data from the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI). In 2024, NCLT and the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) are expected to conclude important Corporate Insolvency Resolution Processes (CIRPs), including that of Future Retail, Go First and Reliance Capital. The latest data showed that 67 per cent of the ongoing CIRPs misse
