Hugh Dancy to guest star in 'Homeland' season 8
"Hannibal" actor Hugh Dancy is set to appear in a recurring guest role in the eighth and final season of the acclaimed series "Homeland". According to Variety, the actor will star opposite his wife, the leading lady of the show, Claire Danes. Dancy will play John Zabel, a savvy Washington consultant who joins the White House as a new foreign-policy advisor to the President and a formidable opponent to Saul Berenson (played by Mandy Patinkin). The show is currently in production and will premiere later this year. The final season will see Carrie Mathison (Danes) recovering from months of brutal confinement in a Russian gulag. Her body is healing, but her memory remains fractured. Rani Mukerji starts shooting for 'Mardaani 2'
Rani Mukerji has started filming for her new project, "Mardaani 2", the makers announced Wednesday. The actor begun shooting for the follow-up to the 2014 critically-acclaimed hit Tuesday here. Production house Yash Raj Films shared a picture from the sets of the cop drama on their official Twitter account. "#RaniMukerji starts shooting for #Mardaani2 | @Mardaani2," the caption read. "Mardaani 2" is produced by Aditya Chopra and the production banner is starting the "Mardaani" franchise with the project. The new film will be helmed by debutant director Gopi Puthran, the writer of the first film. Rani will reprise her role of police officer Shivani Shivaji Roy. Tiffany Haddish to produce stand-up comedy series for Netflix
Actor-comic Tiffany Haddish is developing a new stand-up comedy series with Netflix. Titled "Tiffany Haddish Presents: They Ready", the series will introduce a diverse group of six up-and-coming stand-up comedians doing half-hour specials. According to The Hollywood Reporter, all six comedians were handpicked by Haddish. She knows the comedians having collaborated with them on the stand-up scene or in television. The comedians include Chaunte Wayans, April Macie, Tracey Ashley, Aida Rodriguez, Flame Monroe, and Marlo Williams. "I am introducing six of my favourite comedians - in my eyes, they are super stars. The epitome of They Ready," Haddish said. Haddish is attached as executive producer for She Ready Productions alongside Wanda Sykes and Page Hurwitz's Push It Productions. The title of the series harks back to the comedienne's special "She Ready! From the Hood to Hollywood," which debuted on Showtime after her debut in her breakout role in the 2017 film "Girls Trip".
EC seeks comments from makers of PM's biopic
The Election Commission has sought comments from the makers of a biopic on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the Opposition's demand to postpone its release till the Lok Sabha elections get over. The film is slated for release on April 5. The Delhi chief electoral officer had already issued a notice to the producers in this regard. "Since parties had approached the EC, it will also issue a notice," a functionary said. The poll-body would seek their comments on delaying the release. On March 20, East Delhi Returning Officer K Mahesh suo motu issued notices to the production house and music company behind the film "PM Narendra Modi" and two leading newspapers for publishing advertisements of the film. Opposition parties have alleged that the film violates the model code and would act like an advertisement for the BJP.

Bombay HC: Plea seeks stay on Narendra Modi's biopic
A petition has been filed in the Bombay High Court seeking a stay on the release of a biopic based on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's life which is slated for release on April 5.Petition in this matter was filed by a Pune based Lawyer Satish Sugriv Gaikwad on March 25.The matter is likely to be heard tomorrow.In his petition, Gaikwad stated that the movie, whose trailer has been released, violates the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) which is in force ahead of the ensuing Lok Sabha elections."Release of the movie while the election code of conduct has been imposed clearly shows that it is nothing but the infringement of the legal right (right to Vote) of the citizen of the state," the petition read.He has also sought removal of the movie trailer from the social media handles.The petitioner in his plea also contended that the content of the movie may influence the voters to vote in favour of a "particular candidate" which may disturb the execution of free and healthy election process.
