A Delhi court Wednesday summoned film-maker Ronnie Screwvala as an accused on a plea alleging copyright violation in his upcoming film 'Uri: The Surgical Strike'. Additional District Judge Gaurav Rao directed Screwvala and film's writer and director Aditya Dhar to appear before the court on January 3 on a civil complaint by an author of a book, seeking permanent injunction on the release of the film. The movie is scheduled to be released on January 11, 2019. The suit, filed by Nitin A Gokhale, alleged that the film was based on his book 'Securing India-The Modi Way, Pathankot, Surgical Strikes and more' and infringed the copyright as the contents of the book were used without taking his permission. More than 250,000 people in 2018 clicked on to the poem, which features such lines as "It is only kindness that makes sense anymore, only kindness that ties your shoes." Nye, 66, said in a statement that she was inspired to write the poem after she was robbed on a bus in Colombia and a man, whom she remembered as an "Indian in a white poncho," was murdered. The Kerala High Court Wednesday dismissed a plea filed by noted Malayalam actor Dileep, an accused in the case of abduction and sexual assault of an actress in February 2017, seeking a CBI probe into the case. Dismissing the plea, Justice Sunil Thomas observed that the allegations levelled by the actor need to be proved during trial in the sessions court. Police have investigated the case and filed the charge sheet. The trial of the case is going on, the court said and pointed out that no materials have been placed before it to warrant a CBI investigation.
