5 dead, 67 injured after Durga Puja 'pandal' fire in UP's Bhadohi

Forty-two people were injured in a fire in a Durga Puja Pandal here on Sunday evening, officials said. "A total of 42 people were injured in a fire at Durga Puja Pandal under Aurai Police Station area. The matter is being investigated," District Magistrate Gaurang Rathi said. The DM along with other senior officials of the district reached the spot to oversee the rescue efforts. Nine people were admitted in a local hospital, while 33 others with serious burn injuries were referred to a hospital in nearby Varanasi. An official of the fire department said that the incident occurred around 9.30 pm when an aarti was being performed. Around 300 people were inside the Pandal at the time of the incident.. Prima facie, an electric short circuit is believed to be the cause of fire.

Fire break out at call centre building in Noida; 5 people rescued so far

A fire broke out at a multi-storey building of a call centre here on Friday morning , officials said. The incident was reported around 7.45 am from a building located in A block of Sector 3, Noida chief fire officer Arun Kumar Singh Five people who were caught up due to smoke and fire in the building were rescued by the fire fighters, Singh said, adding no casualty was reported. "Four fire tenders were rushed to the site. The fire had broken out on the second floor of the building, he said. The fire was completely doused and assessment of loss to property besides cause of the fire was underway, the officer said. The local fire service department had recently carried out an inspection drive to review fire safety systems and equipment installed in commercial spaces. Notices were issued to multiple establishments where fire safety systems were not found up to the mark, according to officials.

Allahabad HC pulls up state govt for lapses in Lucknow hotel fire case

The Allahabad High Court on Thursday pulled up the state government for alleged lapses in regulation of development and housing authorities, in connection with a PIL on a fire incident at a Lucknow hotel. The Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court expressed dissatisfaction as the state's lawyer could not place proper replies to its queries in connection with the PIL. The court had taken suo motu cognisance of the fire at the Levana Suites hotel in the posh Hazratganj area in the city earlier this month in which four guests were killed and several injured. A bench of justices D K Upadhyay and Saurabh Srivastava was hearing the PIL. On a previous hearing, the bench had sought a detailed response from Lucknow Development Authority vice-chairman Indramani Tripathi and the chief fire officer. Eight people, including a woman staying in a hotel were killed in a midnight fire that originated from an electric bike showroom located below, in Secunderabad area here. Four people, including two women, died and at least 10 were injured after a fire broke out in a four-floor hotel in the city's commercial centre Hazratganj Monday morning, police said. Rescue teams were inspecting the premises of the Levana Suites on Madan Mohan Malviya Marg in Hazratganj to check if someone had been trapped, officials said. Initially, 10 people were rushed to Shyama Prasad Mukherjee civil hospital. Of these, two were declared dead and seven are undergoing treatment. One of the injured was released, they said. Fire at incense sticks manufacturing unit in Nagpur, nobody injured

A fire broke out in an incense sticks manufacturing unit located in Yashodhra Nagar area of Nagpur city on Friday, an official said. Nobody was reported injured in the blaze that erupted around 12.20 pm, Nagpur Municipal Corporation's chief fire officer Rajendra Uchake said in a statement. Five water tenders and as many tankers of the water works department were rushed to the spot for firefighting, he said.
