4 dead, 10 injured as fire breaks out at Lucknow hotel; UP CM orders probe

Four people, including two women, died and at least 10 were injured after a fire broke out in a four-floor hotel in the city's commercial centre Hazratganj Monday morning, police said. Rescue teams were inspecting the premises of the Levana Suites on Madan Mohan Malviya Marg in Hazratganj to check if someone had been trapped, officials said. Initially, 10 people were rushed to Shyama Prasad Mukherjee civil hospital. Of these, two were declared dead and seven are undergoing treatment. One of the injured was released, they said. Officials said two more people were later rushed to the civil hospital, and were declared dead, taking the toll to four. "Two more people who were found in a serious condition during room to room search of the hotel were rushed to the civil hospital. They were declared brought dead by doctors," Joint Commissioner of Police, Law and Order, Piyush Mordia told PTI. Philippines: More than 80 people rescued from ferry fire in Manila

Philippine coast guard personnel and volunteers have rescued more than 80 passengers and crew of an inter-island ferry that caught fire as it approached a port south of Manila, prompting many to jump into the water as flames spread fast in windy weather, officials said Saturday. Only two passengers are unaccounted for and authorities are checking if the two are missing or had been rescued but immediately went home without notifying officials who led the search efforts Friday, the coast guard said. The M/V Asia Philippines was listed as carrying 49 passengers and 38 crewmembers. The ferry, which came from Calapan city in Oriental Mindoro province, was more than a kilometer away from the Batangas port, when smoke emerged from the second deck followed by flames, according to one of the rescued passengers. Fire at incense sticks manufacturing unit in Nagpur, nobody injured

A fire broke out in an incense sticks manufacturing unit located in Yashodhra Nagar area of Nagpur city on Friday, an official said. Nobody was reported injured in the blaze that erupted around 12.20 pm, Nagpur Municipal Corporation's chief fire officer Rajendra Uchake said in a statement. Five water tenders and as many tankers of the water works department were rushed to the spot for firefighting, he said. It is a ground plus single-storey tin shed structure, where raw material of incense sticks, which is highly combustible, was stored.

A massive fire broke out at North Delhi's Bhalswa landfill on Tuesday.Over 10 fire tenders are at the spot to douse the flames. According to Delhi Fire Service officials, smoke was reported around 5 PM that later spread into a massive fire."We received a call at around 5.47 pm.
