PM Modi not a fussy eater, open to trying new dishes: Kapoor

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not a fussy eater and open to experimenting with food and flavours as long as they are vegetarian, celebrity chef Sanjeev Kapoor said. Kapoor, who cooked for Modi during his visit to the UAE, said the prime minister is open to trying different dishes as long as they have no meat, poultry or eggs in them. Dubai opens world's tallest hotel, again

Gulf metropolis Dubai, on its never- ending quest to break records, announced the opening of the "world's new tallest hotel" today, pipping another towering landmark in the city for the title. The gleaming gold 75-storey Gevora Hotel stands 356 metres, or nearly a quarter of a mile, tall. The new record-holder is within view of its predecessor, Dubai's JW Mariott Marquis -- just one metre shorter. The Gevora's first guests are expected tomorrow, according to Emirati daily The National. Dubai is also home to the world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, which pierces the city skyline at 828 metres (half a mile) high. Vienna eyes 15% growth in tourist arrivals from India in 2018

Vienna, the capital of Austria, is eyeing 15 per cent increase in footfalls from India this year with focus on the family traveller segment, an official said. "Last year has been an exceptional year with over 58,000 Indians spending nearly 128,000 bed nights in Austria. It was 11 per cent increase over 2016. "We feel the growth momentum has begun and this year we expect the tourist arrivals from India to be 15 per cent higher," Vienna Tourist Board Public Relations Manager Isabella Rauter told PTI here. Moreover, she said, the growth will be driven by Vienna Tourist Board's active marketing in key focus markets and targeting the family segment. Overall, Vienna hosted 15.5 million visitor bed nights for travellers across the world, she added. "The welcoming attitude of the people of Vienna helped ensure that visitors have delightful experiences with wonderful memories," Rauter said. After Mumbai, bike ambulances may run in tribal areas in Maha

Buoyed by the "exceptional" response to the free bike ambulance service in Mumbai, the Maharashtra government is now planning to raise the number of these vehicles in the city and run similar services in some tribal-dominated regions in the state, like Palghar. The bike ambulance service, which was started in Mumbai in August last year with the objective of providing swift medical assistance to patients, has so far received around 1,500 calls from different parts of the metropolis. Designed as an emergency first responder medical service, the bike ambulances, available through '108' free helpline, have teams of paramedics providing treatment, especially in places inaccessible to larger ambulances, to patients during the 'golden hour'. Two days after Goa minister Vijai Sardesai called a section of domestic tourists "scum of the earth", his cabinet colleague Manohar Ajgaonkar has threatened to "chase away" visitors who don't take care of "Goan culture and Goanness". Nepal is 'top priority' for China: envoy

China has lately been pursuing a policy to accord "high priority" to its neighbours and that includes Nepal, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Yu Hong said today. Yu was addressing a function organised jointly by the Chinese Embassy here, the government of China's Yunan province and Nepal's Ministry of Tourism and Culture, to celebrate the Chinese Year of the Dog. She also mentioned about many collaborations between Nepal and China in various fields in 2017 adding that the year was also important from China's point of view. Burj Khalifa lights up with Indian tricolour as PM Modi visits

Dubai's iconic skyscraper Burj Khalifa was tonight lit up in the colours of the Indian flag to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi's second visit to the country. The Indian tricolour will be displayed every hour for UAE residents to admire and enjoy, according to the Dubai-based real estate development company Emaar. "The Indian flag will be showcased on Burj Khalifa tonight every hour from 7.15pm to 11.15pm," an Emaar representative was quoted as saying by the Khaleej Times. The light show will coincide with prime minister Modi's second state visit to the UAE. Modi last visited the country in August 2015. AAP demands apology from Goa minister for 'scum' remark

The Aam Aadmi Party in Goa today demanded an apology from Goa minister Vijai Sardesai for calling domestic tourists "scum". The party said that the minister's outburst was derogatory, abusive, disgraceful and indignified.
