South Korea First Lady Kim Jung-sook arrived in the state capital on Monday evening on a two-day visit to Uttar Pradesh. She was received at the Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport at Amausi by senior state government officials.

From a dazzling riverfront at Ram Ki Paidi to illuminated streets and heritage buildings, Ayodhya has been decked up to welcome South Korean First lady Kim Jung-sook for the grand Diwali celebrations in the holy city. An artistic statue of Lord Ram along with Lord Hanuman has been installed at the historic ghats of the Saryu river, while an iconic ceremonial gateway has been erected near the site of the main function. The old temples facing the ghats of the river have been bathed in colourful lighting and lakhs of 'diyas' (earthen lamps) are being set up on the steps of the ghats. The lamps will be lit up Tuesday to welcome Kim, the chief guest of the main function, while also aiming for a Guinness Book of Record. The main streets of Ayodhya wear a scintillating look with illuminated lamps and special decorations. South Korean First Lady Kim Jung-sook met Prime Minister Narendra Modi Monday as they discussed ways to promote people-to-people exchanges between the two countries. Ambedkar Memorial to be completed by 2020: Fadnavis
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis Monday said the memorial of Babasaheb Ambedkar in Dadar's Indu Mill premises will be completed by 2020. He added that, post 2020, followers of the Dalit icon, who come to Chaityabhoomi here for Mahaparinirvan Divas on December 6, will not have to stand in queue as permanent facilities will be built for them as part of the memorial. "A sum of Rs 100 crore have been sanctioned for Nagpur's Diksha Bhoomi, out of which a fund of Rs 40 crore has already been given. Facilities will be provided to the followers from all over the world at Diksha Bhoomi in Nagpur and Ambedkar Memorial in Mumbai," he said.

Rathore inks MoU with Korea on sports cooperation
The Government of India through Ministry of Youth and Sports, on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in sports with the Republic of Korea.Union Sports Minister Rajyawardhan Rathore and Korean Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Do Jong-hwan inked the pact on latter's visit to India.The MoU covers a range of areas including elite sports, sports science and anti-doping. The objective of this MoU is to establish a framework to facilitate and promote cooperation in sports between the two countries.The cooperation under this MOU includes the exchange of coaches, athletes, experts, scientific and methodical materials; joint training for athletes and officials; participation in sports events, seminars, symposia and other areas that may be jointly decided upon by the sides.The sides will encourage exchanges and cooperative actions between sports authorities, sports federations and other sports bodies in the following areas of cooperation.

The Maharashtra government Monday invited applications for its 'Shiv Chhatrapati' sports awards for 2017-18. According to a press release issued by the Directorate of Sports, those who wish to apply for organisers award, can do it from November 5 to 25 on www.mumbaidivsports.com where a separate link is provided. The international medal winners - both men and women, physically-handicapped players and coaches can apply for the awards from November 5 to December 5 on the same website. As per the release, the applicants will need to fill and submit a form with their relevant details and documents. The 'Shiv Chhatrapati' awards are given by the Maharashtra government to sportspersons who have excelled in their fields or brought laurels to the state and the nation.
