Demi Lovato is through with her rehabilitation stint. The singer was in rehab since being hospitalised for a nearly fatal drug overdose in July. "She just got back to LA a couple days ago. She seems to be doing well so far," a source of Lovato told People magazine. Last month, the singer's mother Dianna De La Garza confirmed that Lovato had completed 90 days of sobriety. Artists from Laos perform Ramayana in Ayodhya
To mark the auspicious occasion of Diwali, 14 artists from Laos on Sunday visited Ayodhya and performed Ramayana at Dr. Rammanohar Lohiya Awadh University, Faizabad.The artists enacted the kidnapping of Goddess Sita by Ravana."We are very happy to be in Ayodhya. 1971 war hero passes away, defence minister pays tribute
Vice Admiral (retd) Manohar Pralhad Awati, a Vir Chakra awardee and a veteran of the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war, died of old age Sunday at Vinchurni village in Maharashtra's Satara district, his family members said. He was 91. Awati had joined the Royal Indian Navy in 1945 after completing his education. He was an expert in signal communication and commanded Indian naval ships such as "Ranjit", "Vendurthy", "Betwa", "Tir" and "Mysore". Awati was awarded the Vir Chakra for his exemplary valour as the commanding officer of "INS Kamorta" during the 1971 India-Pakistan war. Maritime history was his favourite subject and he was also the founder of the Maritime History Society. Awati is survived by wife Sandhya, sons Kailas and Kedarnath. His last rites were performed at his hometown. Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman described Awati as an icon in the naval history. Woman Hockey player Lilima Minz, who hails from Odisha, was on Sunday honoured with the prestigious Ekalabya Puraskar, 2018. The annual award, comprising a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh along with a citation, was presented by former cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar at the Ekalabya Award function here. Lilima Minz represented the Indian senior team for the first time in 2011 during a four-nation tournament in Argentina. A new sculpture in honour of Indian soldiers who fought during World War I was unveiled on Sunday in the town of Smethwick in the West Midlands region of England on Sunday. 31 deer die in TN park due to 'high intake' of subabul leaves
As many as 31 spotted deer have died at a park near here in the past few days due to indigestion caused by excessive intake of leaves containing toxic amino acid, a Forest Department official said. The deer died of excessive consumption of subabul tree leaves, which are rich in protein and have mimusin, a toxic amino acid, since November 1. Too much intake of the leaves had resulted in digestion problems leading to the death of the animals, the official said Sunday. While 17 deer died on November 1, eight perished the next day. Another six died on Saturday. Twenty-five of them were female and some were also pregnant, the official said. There were about 180 deer in the park which were taken care of by their keepers. Officials were now keeping an eye on the rest. Postmortem of a couple of deer revealed the cause of the deaths, following which the keepers have been asked not to feed subabul leaves to the remaining, the official said.
