A memorandum of understanding between Hyundai Motor India, IIT-Madras, and the state government's investment promotion agency Guidance Tamil Nadu was signed during the Global Investors Meet held here recently. "The Hydrogen Valley Innovation Hub project, with a total project cost of Rs 180 crore, will be established with an investment of Rs 100 crore by Hyundai Motor India Ltd, towards its capital expenditure requirements," a press release from IIT-Madras said on Friday. The Chennai-based premier research institute would take up the responsibility of setting up the hub at its sprawling campus in the city, and provide both the building as well as research and development infrastructure. IIT Madras develops app for efficient, easy inter-city goods transportation

Researchers at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras, have developed a mobile application for easier and efficient transportation of goods within cities, and eliminating the role of middlemen. Called 'OptRoute', the app connects a consumer with a driver sans any commission or on-boarding fee. The payment from the consumer goes directly to the driver, with no intermediaries. The first version of the App has been developed and commercialised through OptRoute Logistics, an IIT Madras-incubated start-up co-founded by N.S. Narayanaswamy, Professor at Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Madras and Anuj Fulia, an IIT Madras alumnus. The Supreme Court and IIT Madras have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to facilitate digital transformation of Indian judiciary and improve access to justice.
