Harmanpreet, Harleen star as India beat New Zealand in WC warm-up

Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur's 69 underlined a comprehensive effort from India in their four-wicket victory via the DLS method over New Zealand in the second and final warm-up match, ahead of the women's ODI World Cup, here on Saturday. India will take on the tournament co-hosts Sri Lanka in their first match on September 30. In a 42-overs per-side contest which was marred by rains followed by delay due to wet outfield, India outplayed the Kiwis in all departments to bounce back from their heavy loss to England in the first warm-up match for the tournament. Chasing a revised target of 237 after the Kiwis posted 232/8, India showed no qualms in getting over the line with 10 deliveries and four wickets to spare. Harmanpreet was fluent in her knock, striking eight fours to make 69 off 86 balls. She put on 132 runs for the third wicket with Harleen Deol, who once again played a vital knock in the middle order scoring 74 off 79 balls with 10 fours before retiring out. India openers Pratika

I planned to bowl wide yorkers in Super Over: Arshdeep after heroics vs SL

India pacer Arshdeep Singh linked his success in the Super Over against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup Super 4s match to his ability to nail the wide yorkers. Arshdeep was taken to the cleaners by Sri Lanka batters Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Perera, getting smashed around for 26 runs in two overs here on Friday. But the left-arm pacer came back well and conceded just two runs in the Super Over, and also took the wickets of Perera and Dasun Shanaka. My feeling was thatwe got hit in the Power Play, but everyone chipped in later and took the game to Super Over. My plan in the Super Over was clear bowl wide yorkers, and make them (SL batters) score on the off-side, said Arshdeep in a video posted by BCCI. The plan worked to perfection as both Perera and Shanaka were caught at deep point (Rinku Singh) and deep backward point (Jitesh Sharma) as India emerged the winner in the Super Over after the scores were tied at 202 in the regulation time. Arshdeed has played just two matches in the ongo

Morkel: We haven't played our complete game, must bat better under pressure

India's bowling coach Morne Morkel believes that the team hasn't yet played that "complete game" and though he doesn't mind winning an "ugly" one, he does expect the batting unit to lift its performance under pressure in the Asia Cup final against Pakistan here on Sunday. While Indian spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy have stopped most batting units, including Pakistan, in its tracks, the batting show, barring Abhishek Sharma's pyrotechnics, hasn't exactly been inspiring in pressure cooker scenarios. "I don't think in this tournament so far, we've played the complete game. After every game there has to be discussions of areas we would like to improve and get better on. So, it's just a general thinking that when put a little bit under pressure, we need to get sharper," Morkel assessed ahead of the high-intensity final on Sunday. Morkel then listed out the areas in batting which warrant improvement. "If we start with the batting, can we on tough conditions rotate strike a

India make clean sweep in Youth ODIs as Vedant, Rahul shine vs Australia

Middle-order batters Vedant Trivedi and Rahul Kumar scored half-centuries while young left-arm spinner Khilan Patel grabbed four wickets as India Under-19 crushed Australia Under-19 by a massive 167 runs to make a clean sweep of the three-match Youth ODI series, here on Friday. Vedant (86 off 92 balls) and Rahul's (62 off 84 balls) 99-run partnership for the fourth wicket set the platform for a competitive 280 for 9. Australia A were in early trouble, losing three wickets with just 39 on the board. With relentless pressure from left-arm pacer Udhav Mohan (3/26) and spinner Khilan Patel (4/26), the home side were bundled out for just 113 runs in 28.3 overs, handing India their biggest win the three match series. They had beaten the hosts by seven wickets and 51 runs in the last two matches. India did not have a great start after electing to bat, losing skipper Ayush Mhatre for 4 -- his third single-digit score in the series, and the previous game's half-centurion Vaibhav Suryavanshi

Rahul, Sudharsan tons guide India A to series-clinching win over Aus A

KL Rahul and B Sai Sudharsan struck sublime hundreds as India A registered a stunning five-wicket win over Australia A while hunting down a target of 413 to seal the two-match unofficial Test series 1-0 here on Friday. It was the sixth highest successful run chase in the country's first-class history, and Rahul's form (176 not out, 210 balls, 16x4, 4x6) is an ominous sign for the West Indians ahead of the two-match Test series, starting next month. The highest chase remains in the name of West Zone when they overhauled South Zone's target of 536 in the 2010 Duleep Trophy final. Starting the fourth and final day from their overnight 169 for two, India lost Manav Suthar at the total of 189. But Sudharsan (100, 172 balls) and skipper Dhruv Jurel (56) added 78 runs for the fourth wicket to keep India A in the chase of a daunting 412. Sudharsan fetched his eighth first-class hundred in 170 balls, vindicating his call-up for the upcoming home Tests against the West Indies. However, the
