Pilot killed in Uttarakhand crash served in Indian Army for over 15 years

Rajveer Singh Chauhan, the pilot of the helicopter that crashed in Uttarakhand early Sunday killing all seven on board, had served in the Indian Army for over 15 years and had vast experience of flying missions over different terrains. A resident of Shastri Nagar in Jaipur, Chauhan was working as a pilot with Aryan Aviation Private Ltd since October 2024. Chauhan was the captain of Bell 407 helicopter that crashed on Sunday morning near Gaurikund in Uttarakhand. Besides him, six people were killed in the accident. Having worked in the Indian Army, Chauhan had a vast experience of flying missions over different terrains, overseeing aerial operations and had been trained in different types of helicopters and their maintenance, according to his LinkedIn profile. Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot expressed sorrow over the demise of seven people. BEML signs agreement with DRDO to manufacture combat support vehicle

BEML Limited on Monday said it has entered into three licensing agreements with the Vehicles Research and Development Establishment (VRDE), a premier DRDO laboratory, for the Transfer of Technology to manufacture critical mobility and support systems for the Indian Army's Armoured Corps. Under these agreements, Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) will indigenously develop and produce the Unit Maintenance Vehicle (UMV) and Unit Repair Vehicle (URV) for MBT Arjun, and the Full Trailer for 70T Tank Transporter equipped with an Advanced Hydraulic Suspension System. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in enhancing the Indian Army's operational capabilities through fully indigenous, next-generation solutions aligned with the Government of India's "Aatmanirbhar Bharat" vision to achieve self-reliance in critical defence technologies, BEML said in a release.

UP govt to provide 20% reservation for Agniveers in police department

The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday decided to provide 20 per cent reservation for Agniveers in direct recruitment to several positions in the state police force. The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Talking to reporters after the meeting, Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna said the move aims to provide meaningful post-service opportunities to Agniveers, who have completed their four-year term under the Agnipath scheme. "This is a significant decision. The reservation will be applicable across categories general, SC, ST, and OBC. If an Agniveer belongs to the SC category, the reservation will apply within SC; if OBC, then within OBC, he explained.
