ICAI forms group on stress management; to introduce counselling help desk

Chartered accountants' apex body ICAI on Monday announced the setting up of a dedicated group to suggest more stress management measures and will also introduce a counselling help desk against the backdrop of the death of a chartered accountant due to alleged work pressure. The institute will also develop peer support networks where members can share experiences, seek advice, and collaborate to address challenges related to stress management. Chartered accountant Anna Sebastian Perayil recently died allegedly due to extreme work pressure. She worked with S R Batliboi, a member firm of EY Global. The dedicated group will work on introducing measures to improve work-life balance and for managing stress within the profession, ICAI said in a release. Also, a special counselling help desk will be introduced within ICAI's national call centre (9997599975) that will be dedicated to assisting members with stress management and work-life balance concerns. Arunachal govt signs MoU with Delhi's ILBS for cashless treatment

The Arunachal Pradesh government has signed a memorandum of understanding with Delhi's Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences for extending cashless treatment up to Rs 5 lakh to the beneficiaries of the state's Chief Minister Arogya Arunachal Yojana. Chief Minister Pema Khandu said under the MoU, the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS) will offer cashless treatment based on credit authorisation issued by the Chief Minister Arogya Arunachal Yojana (CMAAY) on the recommendation of the referral board in the Naharlagun-based Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS). The TRIHMS, located near the capital city of Itanagar, is Arunachal Pradesh's first medical college and state hospital. Mpox patient discharged from Delhi's LNJP Hospital after 12 days: Report

An Mpox patient admitted to the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital here earlier this month has been discharged, the hospital officials confirmed. The 26-year-old patient, who had been admitted to the disaster ward dedicated to Mpox cases for almost 12 days, was discharged on Saturday. An official from the hospital confirmed "the only Mpox patient was discharged on September 21." The 26-year-old patient from Hisar, Haryana, was admitted to the hospital on September 8, with doctors confirming the diagnosis on September 9. The hospital has 20 isolation rooms, out of which 10 are for suspected cases and the remaining for confirmed Mpox patients. Bengal makes changes in police ranks, health dept after CM-doctors meeting

The West Bengal government on Tuesday removed Dr Kaustav Nayak and Dr Debasish Halder from the position of Director of Medical Education (DME) and the Director of Health Services (DHS) respectively, a health department order said. The order was issued following the meeting between Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and agitating junior doctors on Monday night when Banerjee had promised to remove Nayak and Halder from their positions. Mpox patient recovering well, no need to panic: LNJP medical director

The mpox patient undergoing treatment at LNJP Hospital here is recovering well, the hospital's Medical Director Suresh Kumar said on Thursday. "Mpox is a DNA virus and its rashes typically appear on the palms, soles and skin as maculopapular lesions, which are larger and more pronounced.These can also develop into ulcerated rashes and large skin lesions," Kumar told PTI Videos. "The patient at LNJP is recovering well, so there is no need to panic," he added. The mpox patient admitted at LNJP Hospital here is in a stable condition, Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said on Tuesday. Bharadwaj conducted a surprise inspection of the hospital to assess preparations for dealing with mpox and dengue. "There is one confirmed patient of mpox at LNJP hospital. He has a travel history and it's believed that he got infected during his travel abroad," the minister said. "The patient has been isolated in a separate ward. He is in a stable condition," he added. Healthcare workers at higher risk of TB than general population, says study

Underlining critical occupation risks in the health sector, a new study has found that cases of tuberculosis are a lot more prevalent among healthcare workers in India in comparison to the general population. The analysis of 10 separate studies conducted in the last two decades between 2004 and 2023 found an average prevalence of 2,391.6 cases per 1,00,000 healthcare workers in India, far higher than the rate of 300 cases per 1 lakh population. The Himachal Pradesh government is focusing on strengthening health care services and the government has decided to open one model health centre in every assembly constituency, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said in the Vidhan Sabha on Monday.
