Shortage of medical, para staff in test checked hospitals of Railways: CAG

The Comptroller and Auditor General of India said in its report that while carrying out an audit of Management of Health Services in Indian Railways' it observed the shortage of medical and para medical staff in test checked hospitals of the Zonal Railways. There was also shortage in availability of machines/medical equipment with reference to IPHS (Indian Public Health Standards) norms. Even the minimum requirement of machines/medical equipment as per clinical Establishment (Registration and Regulation) Act 2010 was not being met, the CAG said in its recent report. According to the CAG, the Indian Railways (IR) provide medical and health services to about one crore railway beneficiaries through 129 hospitals and 586 Health Units and the review on Management of Health Services in Indian Railways covered the issues for assessing the adequacy and quality of health services provided by it during the period 2017-18 to 2021-22. Over 29,000 hospitals empanelled till June under Ayushman Bharat: Govt

Over 29,000 hospitals, including 12,625 private ones, have been empanelled under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana till June 30, Union Health Minister J P Nadda told the Lok Sabha on Friday. All empanelled hospitals have signed MoUs with their respective State Health Agencies (SHAs). Beneficiaries can seek redressal of their grievances by filing their grievances related to denial of treatment by the empanelled hospitals or regarding any other issue related to the scheme, using different media, including web-based portal Centralised Grievance Redressal Management System (CGRMS), Central and State call centres, letters to SHAs etc. Beneficiaries can approach the State Health Agency for taking action against erring hospitals, including de-empanelment of the hospitals. Max Healthcare Q1 results: Net profit increases marginally to Rs 295 cr

Max Healthcare Institute on Thursday said its profit after tax rose marginally to Rs 295 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2024. The healthcare firm had reported a profit after tax of Rs 291 crore in the April-June quarter of last fiscal. Gross revenue increased to Rs 2,028 crore for the period under review from Rs 1,719 crore in the year-ago period, Max Healthcare Institute said in a statement. "With the launch of Max Super Specialty Hospital, Dwarka, we have added over 900 beds to our capacity so far and have successfully supplemented the momentum of growth in revenues and profitability before augmentation of bed capacity through brownfield expansion plans in FY26," Max Healthcare Institute Chairman and Managing Director Abhay Soi stated. All citizens aged above 70 years will be provided free treatment under the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme, President Droupadi Murmu said on Thursday. India will highlight its universal coverage through Ayushman Bharat, public health emergency preparedness and digital health transformations in the country at the World Health Assembly to be held in Geneva from May 27, official sources said on Wednesday. It will also showcase the Arogya Maitri Disaster Management Cube -- an indigenous portable hospital -- equipped with several innovative tools designed to enhance disaster response and medical support at the annual event organized by the World Health Organisation (WHO). Zydus Wellness Q4: Net profit up 3.44% to Rs 150 cr, revenue at 782 cr

Zydus Wellness Ltd on Tuesday reported a 3.44 per cent rise in consolidated net profit at Rs 150.3 crore in the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2024. The company had posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 145.3 crore in the same quarter of the previous fiscal, Zydus Wellness said in a regulatory filing. Consolidated total revenue from operations in the quarter under review stood at Rs 782.6 crore, as against Rs 713 crore in the corresponding period a year ago, it said. Total expenses were higher at Rs 632.2 crore in the fourth quarter of financial year 2023-24, as compared to Rs 580.2 crore in the year-ago period. For the fiscal ended March 31, 2024 consolidated net profit was at Rs 266.9 crore, as against Rs 310.4 crore in the previous fiscal, the company said. In FY24, consolidated total revenue from operations stood at Rs 2,327.8 crore, as compared to Rs 2,254.8 crore in FY23.
