Five Qatar-based Indian nationals were killed in a road accident in Kenya

At least five Indian nationals residing in Qatar, who were visiting Kenya, have died after their bus met with an accident. The Indian Embassy in Qatar said a group of 28 Indians was visiting Kenya where their bus met with an accident on Monday. As per available information, 5 Indian nationals have lost their lives in the accident. Officials from HCI Nairobi are on the ground and extending all help, the embassy posted on X. The Gulf Times newspaper reported that the bus they were travelling in got out of control and fell into a gorge in the north eastern county of Nyandarua. The identity of the deceased is yet to be verified, the newspaper said. The Indian mission in another post said it is also in touch with the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC), Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF) and other community groups in Doha. Indian injured in illegal boarding of tanker in S'pore Strait, discharged

A 29-year-old injured Indian national is in a stable condition and has been discharged from a Singapore hospital following an incident of illegal boarding by unknown suspects of a chemical tanker in the Singapore Strait, a media report said on Friday. Officers from Police Coast Guard (PCG) boarded the vessel on February 28 at 8.20 am and saw a crew member lying on the ship's main deck, bleeding from his right eye. Seeing that his injuries were serious, PCG Inspector Muhammad Rasidi Suriade told two of his officers to stay with the injured man, while the remaining four officers turned their attention to finding the suspects on board the ship. Someone was injured, and his life could have been on the line. Indians received 72% of all H-1B visas issued from Oct 2022-Sept 2023: Govt

Indian nationals received 72.3 per cent of all H1B visas issued by the US for the period October 2022 to September 2023, the government informed the Rajya Sabha on Thursday citing the US Citizenship and Immigration Services data. The government also told the Upper House that there were 21,928 Indian students before the start of the conflict in Ukraine, but as on November 01, 2024, only 1,802 students were enrolled in various Ukrainian universities. Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh in a written response to a query in Rajya Sabha said the government of India is "closely engaged with the US administration" and other stakeholders on all issues pertaining to the H1B visa programme through relevant bilateral dialogue mechanisms. 284 more people enter India from Bangladesh via Meghalaya, say officials

Altogether 284 more people entered India on Saturday from violence-hit Bangladesh via Dawki integrated check post in Meghalaya's West Jaintia Hills district, officials said. Of them, 168 are from Nepal and 115 from India, including eight students from Meghalaya, and one from Canada, they said. 98 Indians died during annual Muslim pilgrimage of Hajj to Mecca: MEA

Ninety-eight Indians have died during the annual Muslim pilgrimage of Haj to Mecca, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Friday. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said total deaths of Indians in the entire Haj period last year were 187. "This year, 1,75000 Indian pilgrims visited Mecca for Haj. The Haj period is from May 9 to July 22. This year, till now, 98 deaths have been reported," he said. "The deaths have been due to natural causes, chronic illnesses, and old age. Six people died on the day of Arafat and four were accident-related deaths," Jaiswal said at his weekly media briefing. The MEA spokesperson was responding to a question on the deaths of Indians during Haj.
