12 companies raise nearly Rs 9,000 crore in December through IPOs

As many as 12 companies raised Rs 8,931.69 crore through initial share sales this month, making it the best IPO month in two years. The previous best was December 2021, when 11 companies mopped up Rs 9,534 crore through Initial Public Offerings (IPOs). As per an analysis, 12 companies hit the market with their IPOs in December 2023. This week, six companies got listed after their IPOs and one company will start trading on Thursday. Reflecting the bullishness in the primary market, three firms each made their stock market debut on Tuesday and Wednesday. While Muthoot Microfin, Motisons Jewellers and Suraj Estate Developers got listed on Tuesday, Credo Brands, Happy Forgings and RBZ Jewellers made their debuts on Wednesday. Earlier this month, Doms Industries, Flair, India Shelter Finance and Inox CVA listed on the bourses, while Azad Engineering is set to start trading on Thursday. Ola to use Rs 1,226 cr of IPO proceeds on boosting cell manufacturing unit

IPO-bound Ola Electric Mobility Ltd plans to utilise Rs 1,226.43 crore out of the proceeds of its Rs 5,500-crore public issue on capacity expansion of its cell manufacturing plant to 6.4 GWh from 5 GWh, according to preliminary papers filed by the company with capital markets regulator Sebi. The company, which had filed the draft red herring prospectus (DRHP) last week is also looking to use Rs 1,600 crore from the public fund raising on research and product development, while another Rs 800 crore will be deployed to repay debt. Ola Electric Mobility (OEM) which had on August 15, 2023 announced a line-up of electric motorcycles -- Cruiser, Adventure, Roadster and Diamondhead -- expects to begin delivery of the motorcycles in the first half of fiscal 2026. Main-board IPOs weather global headwinds, collect Rs 52,000-cr in 2023

The capital generated through mainboard IPOs dipped slightly to just over Rs 52,000 crore in 2023 amid global volatility driven by rising interest rates and geopolitical risks, while the number of issues rose. Experts maintain a strong bullish outlook on the IPO market for 2024. Excluding LIC's blockbuster maiden public issue of Rs 20,557 crore in 2022, initial public offering (IPO) collection actually increased by 36 per cent this year. Notably, mid and small-cap companies were in flavor this year, given the considerable tailwind in the markets. The market environment for IPOs has been extremely robust in 2023, though the start of the year was tepid due to global headwinds. Credo Brands' IPO gets subscribed 51.85 times on heavy demand from buyers

The Initial Public Offering (IPO) of Credo Brands Marketing, which owns denim brand Mufti, got subscribed 51.85 times on Thursday, the last day of subscription. Heavy demand from institutional buyers helped the share sale attract smart subscription on the closing day. The Rs 549.77 crore-initial share sale attracted bids for 71,26,92,325 shares against 1,37,44,472 shares on offer, as per data available with the NSE. The Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIBs) part got subscribed a staggering 104.95 times while the portion for non-institutional investors received 55.51 times subscription. The quota for Retail Individual Investors (RIIs) got subscribed 19.94 times. The IPO of 1,96,34,960 equity shares had a price range of Rs 266-280 a share. Cryogenic tank maker Inox India IPO subscribed 2.78 times on debut

The Initial Public Offer (IPO) of cryogenic tank maker INOX India was subscribed 2.78 times on the first day of subscription on Thursday. The Rs 1,459.32 crore IPO received bids for 4,30,88,606 shares against 1,54,77,670 shares on offer, according to NSE data. The category for non-institutional investors received 4.56 times subscription and Retail Individual Investors (RIIs) portion got subscribed 3.59 times. The quota for Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIBs) was subscribed 4 per cent. The IPO of up to 2,21,10,955 equity shares has a price range of Rs 627-660 a share. Inox India Ltd on Wednesday collected Rs 438 crore from anchor investors. Muthoot Microfin to launch Rs 960 crore maiden IPO on December 18

Muthoot Microfin, the microfinance subsidiary of Muthoot Pappachan group, is set to float its Rs 960 crore initial public offering (IPO) on December 18. The maiden public issue will conclude on December 20 and the one-day bidding for the anchor investors will open on December 15, according to the red herring prospectus (RHP). The microfinance institution's initial share sale comprises a fresh issue of equity shares worth Rs 760 crore and an offer for sale (OFS) aggregating up to Rs 200 crore. Those selling shares through the OFS are -- Greater Pacific Capital WIV Ltd and promoters -- Thomas John Muthoot, Thomas Muthoot, Thomas George Muthoot, Preethi John Muthoot, Remmy Thomas and Nina George. The company plans to use proceeds from the fresh issue for augmenting its capital base, to meet future capital requirements.
