The ruling BJD and opposition BJP staged separate demonstrations across Odisha on Monday, holding each other responsible for unemployment in the state and betraying the jobless youths. While the youth and student wings of the BJD launched a three-day protest in front of central government offices, the BJP Yuva Morcha activists demonstrated at the employment exchanges in the state. BJD general secretary Sanjay Dasburma said similar demonstrations would also be held outside central government offices on Tuesday and Wednesday. "Though the BJP had promised to create two crore jobs every year in its election manifesto, employment opportunities were lost due to demonetisation and faulty economic policies of the NDA government," he said. BJD leaders also accused the BJP-led government of having failed to come up with an industrial corridor in Odisha since 2014. The BJP, on the other hand, alleged that the BJD government had no positive agenda for development of the state. BJP .

President Donald Trump insists his new North American trade deal will deliver a victory for US factory workers by returning many high-paying jobs to the United States. Maybe. But a review of the agreement suggests that it could also mean higher prices for consumers and more inefficiencies for businesses. And the biggest winners might end up being robots and the companies that make them. As Americans vote in the midterm elections, Trump is heralding the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement as a triumph for his antagonistic trade policy an approach that he says will usher in "a new dawn for the American auto industry and the American auto worker." The pact, unveiled Sept. 30, does appear to meet some of Trump's goals: It could shift more factory production to the United States, thereby reversing a long-standing flow of jobs to lower-wage Mexico. And it could result in better working conditions and perhaps higher pay for Mexico's long-suffering labourers. But shifting away from a business model ..
Amidt war of words between the BJD and the BJP over unemployment in Odisha, the Congress on Sunday claimed that both the parties are pretending to be worried over the plight of the jobless since polls are due next year. Stating that common people are aware of the truth, the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Niranjan Patnaik said neither the BJP nor the ruling BJD is sincere about providing jobs. "As election is nearing, the BJP and the BJD are hoodwinking people by accusing each other over employment generation," Patnaik said in a statement. While the BJP's youth wing plans to lock all employment exchanges in the state on Monday protesting rising unemployment, the BJD has announced that it will stage dharna before central government offices to counter the saffron party. "There is no difference between rules of the BJD and the BJP. Both parties are corrupt. They have jointly looted Odias during their rule," Patnaik alleged, referring to BJD-BJP rule in .

Over 250,000 new jobs were added to the US economy in October and the unemployment rate remained steady at 3.7 per cent, official figures stated Friday. The average hourly earnings, a closely watched measure of worker pay in the US, also rose 0.2 per cent from September, putting wages 3.1 per cent above the year-ago level -- the fastest gain since April 2009, according to a Bureau of Labour Statistics monthly report. The unemployment rate remained at 3.7 per cent in October and the number of unemployed persons was little changed at 6.1 million, it said. Over the year, the unemployment rate and the number of unemployed persons declined by 0.4 percentage point and 449,000, respectively, it said. "Wow! The U.S. added 250,000 Jobs in October - and this was despite the hurricanes. Unemployment at 3.7%. Wages UP!" Trump tweeted immediately after the report was released. "These are incredible numbers. Keep it going, Vote Republican!" Trump said in an apparent effort to get political mileage .
The US economic engine brushed past last month's Hurricane Michael to continue its robust job creation while giving workers a fat pay bump, the government reported Friday. In a welcome development for Republicans ahead of next week's bitter midterm vote, American employers added 250,000 net new positions in October, handily overshooting forecasts, while salaries rose at the fastest rate since 2009, the Labour Department said. Unemployment held steady at 3.7 per cent, a 48-year low. The result was a surprise as some economists had expected the hurricane that made landfall on the Florida panhandle in the middle of the employment survey week to depress reports of hiring and worker pay. Instead, officials said the storm, which disrupted business and life for millions, produced "no discernable effect" on the estimates. Companies kept right on hiring in healthcare, manufacturing, construction, transportation and warehousing. But perhaps more significant, average hourly earnings, a closely ..

The top court said that the minimum wages for all classes of workmen in all scheduled employment would be governed by the notification issue by the AAP government on an interim basis. A Dutch court Thursday slapped down Ryanair's plan to transfer more than a dozen Dutch pilots elsewhere in Europe, saying the no-frills airline "abused its power" in deciding to close its Eindhoven base. The under-fire Irish airline announced early last month it was shuttering its base in the southern Dutch city and pulling out its four aircraft on November 6. Ryanair added that it would seek to minimise job losses by slotting in Dutch pilots elsewhere in its continental network. Sixteen Dutch pilots however sued the budget operator, asking the judges in an urgent injunction to rule against the decision. "Ryanair may not transfer 16 pilots from their home base in Eindhoven abroad," the Den Bosch District Court said in a statement. "The judge ruled that Ryanair abused its power when deciding to close its base," the court added. While the judge couldn't reverse the company's decision to close its Eindhoven base, the ruling means Ryanair must continue paying the pilots. The judge also ...
