Woman raped by NGO official in Kolkata
A woman was allegedly raped by an official of an international NGO inside its premises in Bowbazar area here, the police said. The victim in her complaint to the police said that she had been raped by the official with an active involvement of a woman employee of the NGO on Sunday. Police arrested the accused officer of the NGO from his Howrah residence and picked up the woman from her Haridevpur home last night.
Gorakhpur: Ex-IAF cook arrested for possessing secret information
A former cook of the Indian Air Force (IAF) officers' mess was recently charged by the police under the Official Secret Act (OSA) for possessing secret information.Shashikant Jha, a native of Banka district in Bihar, was arrested by the IAF on July 5 before he was handed over to the police for possessing confidential information about the Air Force, including the take-off schedule of the IAF fighter planes."Air Force officials on July 5 apprehended Shashikant Jha, who was in an area he wasn't cleared to be in. Man wanted in killing of Delhi Police SI arrested in UP's Shamli
A man, wanted in the killing of a Delhi Police sub-inspector (SI), was arrested from Masura village in Shamli district, police said today. Khemsingh is named as an accused is several cases, including murder, Superintendent of Police, Shamli, Dinesh Kumar said. He was arrested last evening during a checking drive near the Masura bridge, the officer said. The Delhi Police officer was killed in May after he tried to stop a robbery bid in Hapur, the SP said.

Delhi's Patiala House Court will on Tuesday continue hearing the anticipatory bail plea of former finance minister P Chidambaram and his son Karti Chidambaram in connection with the Aircel-Maxis money laundering case.The former finance minister was given protection from arrest by the Enforcement Directorate till July 10 by the Court.Earlier, Chidambaram had appeared before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the case.The Aircel-Maxis deal case, which emerged out of 2G spectrum cases, pertains to a grant by the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) to firm M/S Global Communication Holding Services Ltd for investment in Aircel.The ED had earlier said that the FIPB approval granted in 2006 by Chidambaram was beyond his mandate as he was only authorised to accord approval on project proposals up to Rs 600 crore.P. Former president of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur have been barred from flying abroad.As per Geo News, Zardari's name has been placed on the Exit Control List (ECL) on the orders of Pakistan's Supreme Court.The court also summoned Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairman and his sister in a money laundering scam of Rs 35 billion.The court has ordered the siblings to appear on July 12.The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) registered a case in the aforementioned money laundering scam in Karachi last week, that involve politicians, businessmen, and bankers.A seven-member joint investigation team (JIT) has also been constituted by the FIA to probe the matter, which will be headed by Addition DG FIA Dr Najaf Mirza.

Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, who is on an official visit to London, said that he will look into All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB)'s Shariat court proposal."When I go back to India, I will examine the demand and then react to it. We have taken a very firm position as far as Triple Talaq is concerned. It's not a question of religion or community. The Madras High Court today did not allow an urgent mention by a lawyer seeking stringent action against people behind an anonymous letter threatening Justice M Sundar, allegedly over his judgment against the Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker's order in the 18 MLAs disqualification case. "We cannot interfere in the matter. Police will take care of the issue," the first bench, comprising Chief Justice Indira Banerjee and Justice P T Asha, said. An anonymous letter was allegedly sent to Justice Sundar, threatening him and his family with dire consequences following his verdict in the disqualification case. A Bengaluru court today sentenced three of the 14 accused in the 2010 Chinnaswamy Stadium bomb blast case to seven years in jail. The NIA designated court judge Siddalinga Prabhu sentenced them to seven years of simple imprisonment and one year of rigorous imprisonment, which would run concurrently. On July 4, the court had reserved its order after the accused pleaded guilty. The three - Gowhar Aziz Khomani, Kamaal Hasan and Mohammad Kafeel Akhtar - had filed the affidavit in the court that day, pleading guilty after it rejected their plea bargain. They had sought leniency and lesser punishment. The accused had been in jail for six years during the trial. : A man allegedly drunk banged his three-year-old son against an autorickshaw here, police said today. Shiva Goud (40), an auto-rickshaw driver, is absconding and a search is on for him, they said. The child, who was injured, has been hospitalised and is out of danger, a police inspector P Srinivas said. "The boy's mother was not ready to give complaint against her husband, but we registered a suo moto case under relevant sections of Child Care and Protection Act and Juvenile Justice Act," the inspector said.
