Two RSS activists were arrested in connection with the alleged attack on a photojournalist of a Malayalam daily at the Malappuram Press Club here, police said today. The two-Dilip Kumar (31) and Shibu (30) are RSS workers and were arrested last night, police said. The incident occurred when some RSS workers barged into the club and allegedly attacked the photographer, Faud Sanea, for having taken a video of their alleged manhandling of a two-wheeler rider during a protest march near here. A case had been registered against 10 RSS activists under various sections of the IPC including those related to unlawful assembly and rioting besides the Kerala Public Way Restriction of Assemblies and Procession Act. Three brothers of an IAS officer were attacked by miscreants allegedly for extortion in Wasseypur locality of Dhanbad, a police official said today. The Maharashtra government told the Bombay High Court today that it was considering a policy under which one person, including bureaucrats and judges, will be allotted only one flat in the state under any state-sponsored scheme. The Supreme Court today refused to interfere with the arrest of journalist Upendra Rai by the CBI for his alleged involvement in dubious financial transactions. A bench of Justices A K Sikri and Ashok Bhushan said it would not like to interfere in the arrest, saying it has not gone through the application filed by Rai seeking protection. A 43-year-old man was found with his wrists slit near union Home Minister Rajnath Singh's residence in central Delhi today, the police said. The man, Raj Kumar, was spotted by a police personnel patrolling the area on his motorcycle. Kumar had allegedly slit his wrists. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh for the family of the labourer who was killed when a portion of an under-construction flyover caved in here yesterday night. The managing director of the firm executing the project has been arrested, the police said. The chief minister also ordered a high-level inquiry into the flyover collapse at Bomikhal area in which another labourer was critically injured, an official at the chief minister's office said. A 16-year-old pilgrim from Rajasthan died after apparently suffering a cardiac arrest while on his way to the shrine of Vaishno Devi in Jammu and Kashmir today, police said. Manor Kumar of Dholpur district fell unconscious while on his way to the shrine. He was rushed to a dispensary by his friends where doctors declared him brought dead, they said.
