A South Korean court on Monday released Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong after it handed him a suspended sentence dismissing most of the key charges in a scandal that led to the ouster of former President Park Geun-hye.

Court sends Indrani Mukerjea to CBI custody for 2 days
A special court here today sent Indrani Mukerjea, a prime accused in the Sheena Bora murder case, to two days CBI custody in connection with a case related to INX Media. Special CBI Judge Sunil Rana allowed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to interrogate Indrani for two days after the agency sought three days custody and directed that she be brought before it on February 7. Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram's son Karti's name has also cropped up in the case, which relates to Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) approval granted in 2006 for receipt of funds by INX Media. During the proceedings, the probe agency submitted before the court that Indrani has to be questioned and confronted with other accused in the case. It said that during an earlier interrogation in the matter, it was revealed that further investigation requires her custodial interrogation. Triple murder creates panic in Hyderabad
A case of triple murder came to light from Hyderabad's Jillelaguda area on Monday morning.Harinder killed his wife Jyothi and two children. His son Abhijeet was 6-year-old and daughter Sahasra was 4-year-old.The police are suspecting that the wife was hit to a wall while the children were strangulated to death."The police reached the spot and are investigating the matter. We are waiting for Jyothi's parents before shifting the body for autopsy," said Circle Inspector, Meerpet police station to ANI.A case was registered under section 302 of Indian Penal Code, confirmed that police official.Moreover, a search has been launched to nab the accused, Harinder, who has been absconding after committing the murders.In just a week time, more than ten murders have been reported in and around Hyderabad city. Even on January 29, a triple murder was reported from Chanda Nagar police station limits.
Paris attacks suspect Abdeslam arrives for Belgian trial:
The last surviving suspect in the 2015 Paris attacks, Salah Abdeslam, arrived at a court in Brussels amid tight security today to stand trial over a shootout that led to his capture, a source close to the case said. Abdeslam was taken from a prison outside Paris in the middle of the night and taken by a police convoy to the four- day trial in Brussels, the source told AFP.
Life ban on Sreesanth: SC issues notice to BCCI
The Supreme Court on Monday sought reply from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) over former Indian pacer S. Khalapar violence: Man booked under NSA
A man has been booked under the stringent National Security Act (NSA) in connection with the attack on a police team allegedly by a mob in Khalapar area here, an official said. Inayat surrendered before a court a few days ago. He was sent to judicial custody. Yesterday, he was booked under the NSA for the violence at Khalapar, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anant Dev said. The police team was attacked on June 27 when they had gone to arrest three men in a cow slaughter case. Four policemen were injured and a police vehicle was damaged in the incident.
6 arrested for harassing Dalit woman
Six people have been arrested for allegedly harassing a 22-year-old Dalit woman here and attacking her family, police said today. In the incident, which took place on Saturday at Buwada village, the woman and four of her family members were injured, they said. Pawan, Dinesh, Arvind, Annu, Rajesh and Rakesh were arrested yesterday, following a complaint lodge by the woman at the Khatoli police station , police said. Security was stepped up in the area following the violence, they said.
Paris attacks suspect tried in Belgium over shootout
Belgium will be on high alert today as the last surviving suspect in the 2015 Paris attacks, Salah Abdeslam, stands trial in Brussels over a shootout that led to his capture. Abdeslam, 28, left a jail near the French capital early Monday, together with a convoy of tactical police vehicles. Hundreds of Belgian security forces will protect the court building. Abdeslam, a Belgian-born French national of Moroccan descent, is charged with "attempting to murder several police officers in a terrorist context" and of "carrying prohibited weapons in a terrorist context". The charges concern a gunbattle in the Belgian capital on March 15, 2016, four months after the Paris attacks, which led to his capture days later. Three police officers were wounded and a fellow jihadist was killed. Abdeslam and the man arrested with him, Tunisian national Sofiane Ayari, 24, could serve up to 40 years in prison if convicted. The Kulgam Police on Monday arrested three people in connection to the kidnapping of a minor girl on January 21.An FIR has been lodged under sections 363, 120B of Indian Penal Code and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to probe the case, read an official note.On January 29, the parents of the minor filed a missing report in Kulgam Police Station naming three persons as conspirators in her kidnapping.On receiving the complaint, the Kulgam Police swung into action and recovered the girl with 24 hours.The victim alleges that she was drugged by mixing pills in her tea and molested her."They drugged me and filmed me with a man. Woman, 5-yr-old daughter found dead in field
A 30-year-old woman and her five-year-old daughter were today found dead in a field here, police said. The bodies were found in an area under the Civil Lines Police Station, Superintendent of Police (SP) Ombir Singh said. They were killed last evening and it is suspected that the woman was raped near the Vehelna Chowk. The bodies have been sent for post mortem, he said. The victims are yet to be identified, the SP said.
Rs 8 Lakh worth U.S. Dollars seized from two passengers
U.S Dollars valued at around Rs eight lakh were seized today by customs officials from two Colombo-bound air passengers, who allegedly hid the currency in their belts. Customs officials said that their personnel, acting on a tip off, checked the passengers at the airport here and found them carrying the currency in their belts. Gunmen kill 6, wound 14 at cockfight club in northern Mexico
Authorities in northern Mexico say gunmen shot up a clandestine cockfight arena in the Chihuahua state capital, killing six people and wounding 14. The state prosecutor's office says in a statement that several masked attackers fired at people gathered at the "Santa Maria" cockfight club late yesterday off a highway on the southern edge of Chihuahua city. Prosecutors said today that four victims were killed at the scene and two more died while receiving medical treatment. Two children ages 7 and 10 were among the wounded. There were no immediate arrests.
INX Media case: Indrani likely to be produced in court today

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Registrar and a lawyer of Delhi Dental Council in an alleged bribery case of approximately Rs 4,73,000.The accused Registrar Dr Rishi Raj and Advocate N Pradeep Sharma were produced in Delhi's Competent Court and remanded to four days of police custody.Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Kumar Jain has also come under the scanner after relevant documents in his name were recovered during the raid by the CBI at the residence and office of the Registrar on Sunday.The CBI registered a case under Sections 7 (illegal gratification taken by public servant) and 8 (taking illegal gratification to influence public servant) of the Prevention of Corruption (PC) Act and Section 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), after a dentist filed a complaint alleging the accused demanded a bribe of Rs 4.73 lakhs in return for favourable order from the council and for extending help in further legal proceedings in his matter.Acting ...
Hyderabad: Policeman saves boy's life
A policeman in Hyderabad has saved the life of a seven-year-old boy, who was hit by a speeding car, on Sunday by taking the severely-injured minor to hospital in his patrol vehicle.The accident reportedly took place when the boy was crossing the road with his parents near Budwel Railway Station on Friday.Airport police station circle inspector Mahesh, who was passing by, saw the injured boy and his parents waiting for an ambulance.He then immediately acted and took the boy into his hands and shifted the boy to a local hospital in his patrol vehicle.
