A man allegedly raped a seven-year-old girl and then killed her with the help of his father in outer Delhi's Nihal Vihar following which the accused duo were arrested on Monday, police said. The accused, identified as Rajender (21) and his father Ram Saran (51), are residents of the same locality as the minor, they said. The body of the girl, reported missing on February 9 from Nihal Vihar, was found dumped near a park with her limbs tied with a rope on Sunday, police said. A case was registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, a senior police officer said. Two men, who allegedly fired at a police officer last week in a bid to rob him, have been arrested from near Geeta Colony flyover in Delhi, police said on Monday. The accused were identified as Arman Farhaz (30) and Mohammad Riaz (34), they said. Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Vedi Ram, posted at the Nizamuddin police station, lodged a complaint on Thursday that on his way to Seelampur after completion of his duty, he was intercepted by two persons near the Golden Jubilee Park at around 11.45 pm, Deputy Commissioner of Police (north) Nupur Prasad said. After questioning for three consecutive days, the CBI Monday asked Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar to report to them again on Tuesday for further quizzing in the multi-crore Saradha chit fund case. Three suspected burglars, including a woman, who used to target showrooms, were arrested here and Rs 15 lakh in cash was recovered from them, police said Monday. A Pakistani national was sentenced to seven years in jail by a Dubai court for stabbing his Indian roommate to death in 2018 over an argument on leaving the lights on, a media report said. The Dubai Court of First Instance on Sunday convicted the 37-year-old Pakistani man and ordered his deportation after the end of jail-term, the Khaleej Times reported. The Supreme Court Monday refused to monitor the ongoing CBI investigation into various chit fund scams, including the one involving Saradha Group of Companies. A two-judge bench comprising Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice Sanjiv Khanna did not allow the application filed by some investors saying that despite the apex court's 2014 order directing the agency to probe the chit fund scam, the investigation has not attained finality. Senior advocate Vikas Singh, appearing for some investors who lost money to a ponzi scam, said the CBI probe has not led to any conclusion and the investors are still running from pillar to post for redressal. "We are not inclined to set up a monitoring committee for the chit fund scam probe," the bench said. A 21-year-old woman was allegedly raped by 10 men near Issewal village on the banks of Sidwan canal, about 15 km from here, after the car she was travelling in with her friend was stopped and she was dragged out, police said Monday. The woman was travelling with a man from Ludhiana to Issewal village on Saturday night when their car was stopped in Jagraon by men in three bikes, who were following them, Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Tarun Rattan told reporters.
