Garuda Aerospace inks pact with Narayana Health, to ferry medical supplies

Drone manufacturer Garuda Aerospace has joined hands with healthcare provider Narayana Health towards transporting of bio-medical supplies using their 'Sanjeevani' drone, the company said on Friday. The partnership between the two aims to ensure faster delivery of medical supplies including samples for diagnosis during challenging conditions. "With the help of Garuda Aerospace's Sanjeevani drone, Narayana Health will be able to transport bio-medical supplies quickly, ensuring patients receive timely diagnosis and treatments." Garuda Aerospace said. The drones would be able to provide emergency healthcare in remote and under served areas as well, it said. "Our aim is to improve access to critical medical supplies and support the delivery to patients in need and in times of emergency," Garuda Aerospace founder-CEO Agnishwar Jayaprakash said in a statement. Govt's free telemedicine service reaches 100 mn beneficiaries: Mandaviya

The central government's free telemedicine service has clocked over 10 crore teleconsultations till now, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Thursday said. An initiative of the Union Ministry of Health, eSanjeevani, had among its beneficiaries 57 per cent women and around 12 per cent senior citizens, the minister said. "This platform also reflects that the platform is finding its reach in the more vulnerable sections of the population where its effect is to fetch maximum impact. "This speaks volumes about the telemedicine platform and the extent to which it has reinvented itself over time to meet the growing demands of healthcare in India," Mandaviya said. The National Telemedicine Service, "eSanjeevani," a digital health initiative of the ministry supports two types of teleconsultation services Doctor-to-Doctor (eSanjeevani) and Patient-to-Doctor (eSanjeevani OPD) teleconsultations. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has said the government is working to equal the number of undergraduate and postgraduate medical seats within four years so that all MBBS graduates can pursue PG courses. Speaking at the 13th annual conference of the Global Association of Physicians of Indian origin (GAPIO) here on Saturday, Mandaviya also invited healthcare professionals from the Indian diaspora to invest in research and open hospital chains in the country with "assured business." Expenditure of Rs 51,749 cr authorised under govt's insurance scheme

A total of 4.34 crore hospital admissions entailing an expenditure of Rs 51,749 crore have been authorised under the government's Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme till February 2 this year, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya informed Lok Sabha on Friday. The average per capita expenditure under the scheme is Rs 11,924, Mandaviya said in a written response to a question. The Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna (AB-PMJAY), launched in September 2018, provides a cover of up to Rs 5 lakh per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalisation. According to Mandaviya, a total of 23.07 crore beneficiaries have been verified under the scheme for issuance of Ayushman cards as of February 2, 2023. The minister further informed that a budget of Rs 6,412 crore has been allocated to be utilised under PMJAY for 2022-23 and Rs 4,580.10 crore has been utilised till February 2. Integrative Medicine Centres will start at govt medical sites: Mandaviya

The Centre has decided to open Integrative Medicine Centres at all government medical establishments in the country especially at AIIMS, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said on Tuesday. Opening such centres will help in harmonising the Indian and modern systems of medicine and providing joint multidisciplinary care to patients, Mandaviya said. The health minister and Union Minister of Ayush Sarbananda Sonowal on Tuesday jointly inaugurated an Integrative Medicine Centre at the Department of Integrative Medicine of All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) at Safdarjung Hospital here. Medicine sale by dealers to retailers hit Rs 1.40 trn in Apr-Dec: Mandaviya

The total sale of medicines by stockists/dealers to retailers in India stood at over Rs 1.40 lakh crore during the April-December period, Rajya Sabha was informed on Tuesday. In a written reply to a query, Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilisers Mansukh Mandaviya laid a statement on the table of the Upper House stating no separate data is, however, maintained regarding consumption of generic medicines in the country. During the April-December 2022 period, the total sales of medicines by stockists or dealers to retailers was at Rs 1,40,865.31 crore. In 2021-2022, it was at Rs 1,69,234.82 crore while the same stood at Rs 1,47,586.41 crore in 2020-2021, as per the statement. Health Minister Mandaviya launches Bharat Biotech's nasal Covid-19 vaccine

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Science and Technology Minister Jitendra Singh launched Bharat Biotech's nasal Covid vaccine, iNCOVACC, on the occasion of Republic Day on Thursday. The world's first made-in-India intranasal vaccine was launched at Mandaviya's residence here. The nasal vaccine -- BBV154 -- had received the Drugs Controller General of India's (DCGI) approval in November for restricted emergency use among adults as a heterologous booster dose. Mandaviya urges Odisha govt to implement Ayushman Bharat insurance scheme

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Saturday urged the Odisha government to implement the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme in the state so that beneficiaries can avail benefits of cashless hospitalisation. Speaking to the media after participating in the 4th annual convocation of AIIMS Bhubaneswar, he said the Health Ministry has also written to the state government in this regard. The Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna (PM-JAY) aims to achieve the target of universal health coverage and provide access to free and affordable healthcare services to the people residing in the remotest of the areas. The scheme aims to provide free and cashless healthcare services up to Rs 5 lakh per family per year to over 10.74 crore poor and vulnerable families (over 53 crore beneficiaries) as per the Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC)-2011 database. The AB-PMJAY is implemented in all states and Union territories barring West Bengal, NCT of Delhi and Odisha.

Cough syrup case: Manufacturing activities stopped at Noida pharma firm

All manufacturing activities at Marion Biotech's Noida unit have been stopped in view of reports of contamination of its cough syrup Dok-1 Max, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said on Friday. Further investigation in connection with the death of 18 children in Uzbekistan allegedly linked to the cough syrup is going on, he said in a tweet. "Following inspection by @CDSCO_INDIA_INF team in view of reports of contamination in cough syrup Dok1 Max, all manufacturing activities of Marion Biotech at NOIDA unit have been stopped yesterday night, while further investigation is ongoing," Mandaviya said. The company's legal representative had said on Thursday that the manufacture of Dok-1 Max has stopped "for now". Mandaviya had said Thursday that further action would be taken based on the inspection of the pharma company. Hospitals across India hold mock drills to verify Covid readiness

Many hospitals across the country held mock drills on Tuesday to check preparedness of health facilities to deal with any spurt in COVID-19 cases, with Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya saying it was important to gauge operational readiness of equipment and human resources. Mandaviya oversaw the drill at the Centre-run Safdarjung Hospital here, while health ministers reviewed the drill in their respective states.
