MG Motor India logs 53% rise in retail sales at 4,367 units in October

MG Motor India on Tuesday reported 53 per cent rise in retail sales at 4,367 units for October 2022. The company had sold 2,863 units in the same month last year, MG Motor India said in a statement. During the month, the company also achieved its highest ever production monthly milestone at 5,008 units, which included 784 units of electric vehicle (MG ZS EV), it added. The company, which had earlier been plagued by chip shortage, said it was able to enhance production due to "some improvement in semiconductor supplies through localisation initiatives". The production uptick has made the commencement of the deliveries of the company's SUV Astor in both continuously variable transmission (CVT) and automatic transmission (AT) variants possible, it added. "The coming weeks should hopefully see some more improvement," it said.

MG Motor retail sales increase by 17% in September 2022 to 3,808 units

MG Motor India on Saturday said its retail sales increased by 17 per cent to 3,808 units in September. The automaker had sold 3,241 units in September 2021. "The waiting period continues to be 3-6 months across models impacted by supply chain constraints," MG Motor said in a statement. The company stated that its models like Gloster, ZS EV, Hector and Astor continue to do well in the market. "However, the semiconductor availability issue persists, limiting MG to supply only the Astor MT (manual transmission) model for the time being," it added. The company is hopeful about commencing deliveries of the Astor automatic variants soon, it noted.

MG Motor India sales drop by 11.4% in Aug, blames supply chain volatility

MG Motor India on Thursday reported an 11 per cent decline in retail sales in August, hit by supply chain constraints. The company retailed 3,823 units last month as compared to 4,315 units in August 2021. "The volatility in supply chains continues to cause many production challenges, however, this is expected to improve from next month onwards," the automaker said in a statement. In order to meet growing customer demand, the company has proactively undertaken multiple initiatives, including localisation and the introduction of executive vehicle variants in its product mix, it added. The company, a wholly-owned arm of China's SAIC Motor Corp, said it continues to have a strong order book with a positive outlook for the upcoming launches. The launch of the new version of Gloster, with significant safety, style, and technology enhancements, is expected to double the sales of the model line up, it added.
