Prime Focus on Friday announced a Rs 3,000 crore investment to set up a 'film city', housing an entire ecosystem related to entertainment. The BSE-listed entertainment company signed a memorandum of understanding with the Maharashtra government to create the facility, which has the potential to create up to 2,500 jobs, on the sidelines of the ongoing WAVES 2025 event here. Founder of the company Namit Malhotra told PTI that the film city will come up over a 200-acre area within the financial capital that the state government has committed to allocate. Without disclosing the exact location where the facility will be housed, Malhotra said the state government has two or three options. The financial capital already houses a film city run by the state government, which primarily hosts studios for film production and post-production and also talent training. A Delhi court has allowed the NIA to collect the voice and handwriting samples of 26/11 Mumbai attack accused Tahawwur Hussain Rana, a source said. Special National Investigation Agency (NIA) Judge Chander Jit Singh, who on April 28 extended Rana's custody for 12 days, passed the order on April 30 on an application moved by the agency. Rana, a close associate of 26/11 main conspirator David Coleman Headley alias Daood Gilani, a US citizen, was brought to India after the US Supreme Court on April 4 dismissed his review plea against his extradition to India. On November 26, 2008, a group of 10 Pakistani terrorists went on a rampage, carrying out a coordinated attack on a railway station, two luxury hotels and a Jewish centre, after they sneaked into India's financial capital using the sea route. Registration of properties in the Mumbai municipal region rose 12 per cent to 13,080 units in April on better housing demand, according to Knight Frank India. There were 11,648 units registered during April 2024. In a statement on Wednesday, real estate consultant Knight Frank India said Mumbai city, under the jurisdiction of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), recorded 13,080 property registrations during April. The data, which relates to both primary and secondary market transactions, is as of 8.50 pm on Wednesday. The number might increase slightly. In March 2025, the total registration of properties stood at 15,501 units. Knight Frank said this is the best April in the last 13 years in terms of property registrations.

A major fire that devastated a mall in Mumbai's upscale Bandra area was controlled after more than 22 hours of firefighting, civic officials said on Wednesday. The blaze erupted around 4.10 am on Tuesday in the basement of Link Square Mall on Linking Road in Bandra West and was extinguished at 1.41 am on Wednesday after efforts by fire brigade personnel and other emergency services, the officials said. There was no report of anybody getting injured, they said. Initially confined to an electronics goods showroom, the flames quickly engulfed the upper floors of the three-storey mall, which houses over 200 commercial establishments and shops, and completely gutted it. By 6.25 am on Tuesday, the Mumbai fire brigade upgraded the blaze to Level IV' (major fire) and launched a large-scale response. A major fire broke out in a building housing an electronics goods showroom in the suburban Bandra area early on Tuesday, officials said and added there were no immediate reports of any injuries. This is second major early-morning blaze in the metropolis in two days. On Sunday, a major fire broke out in a building housing the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office in the Ballard Estate area. The officials said Tuesday's fire was reported in the multistorey building at Linking Road in the Bandra West area around 4:10 am. A civic official said the blaze was confined in the building's basement. Twelve fire engines and other firefighting vehicles are at the spot and efforts are underway to douse the flames, the official added. The fire brigade escalated the blaze to Level III, indicating a more severe category, around 4:49 am. The civic official said other agencies were also mobilised and added the cause of the fire was not yet known.

Its net profit stood at Rs 788.03 crore in the year-ago period. Total income also fell to Rs 1,213.33 crore in January-March 2024-25 from Rs 1,558.56 crore a year ago, according to a regulatory filing. Net profit rose to Rs 2,225.51 crore in 2024-25 from Rs 1,926.60 crore a year ago. Total income increased to Rs 5,474.17 crore from Rs 4,818.77 crore.
