Delhi-bound flight makes emergency landing in Mumbai over bomb threat

A Delhi-bound flight of Akasa Air with 185 passengers on board made an emergency landing at the Mumbai international airport on Saturday after a passenger claimed there was a bomb on the plane, which later turned out to be a hoax, officials said, adding he has been arrested. After taking off from Pune, a passenger, identified as Pallav Ajay Tyagi, started shouting that there was a bomb on the flight, which caused panic among passengers, a police official said. The airline spokesperson said, "Akasa Air flight QP 1148, flying from Pune to Delhi at 00:07 hours on Saturday and carrying 185 passengers and six crew members on board, received a security alert shortly after take-off. "As per the safety and security procedures, the plane was diverted to Mumbai. The Captain followed all required emergency procedures and landed safely at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport at 00:42 hours". A representative from the airlines later lodged an FIR against Tyagi at the airport police

Ajmera Realty bags housing project in Mumbai; eyes Rs 360 cr sales revenue

Ajmera Realty & Infra India Ltd on Tuesday said it will redevelop a housing society at Versova in Mumbai and is expecting to generate Rs 360 crore revenue from this project. In a regulatory filing, the Mumbai-based company informed that it has undertaken "redevelopment of Balkrishan Co-operative Housing Society based in Versova." The redevelopment is estimated to generate sales of around Rs 360 crore and will primarily comprise 3 BHK residential apartments, it added. Redevelopment and repurposing old housing societies into modernized residential asset classes has gained significant prominence in MMR, thus opening doors to newer opportunities backed by redefined interest from homebuyers," Dhaval Ajmera, Director of Ajmera Realty, said. The Congress on Saturday termed as an "eyewash" and "sham" the reported probe by the corporate affairs ministry into the accounts of Adani Enterprises' two airports in Mumbai and reiterated its demand for a JPC probe into the Adani issue. The opposition party has been questioning the financial dealings of billionaire Gautam Adani's Group after US research firm Hindenburg alleged "irregularities" and charged it with stock price manipulation. The Adani Group has denied all the allegations made in the Hindenburg report and claimed there had been no wrongdoing on its part. 3,000 suburban train services to be hit in Mumbai amid 29-day block

At least 3,100 suburban services and 260 long-distance trains will be fully or partially cancelled amid the 29-day block on the Western Railway in Mumbai, an official said on Tuesday. The block, which began on October 7, has been put in place for the construction of the sixth line between Khar and Goregaon railway stations, he said. As per a release, around 2,700 suburban services will be cancelled and about 400 services will be partially disrupted or short-terminated from October 20 onwards. At least 60 cancellations and 200 partial cancellations or short terminations of long-distance trains are expected during the block period. "Despite the huge quantum of work involved, the block has been meticulously planned to ensure minimum disruption of rail traffic and inconvenience to passengers, Sumit Thakur, chief public relations officer of Western Railway, said. Both Shiv Sena factions seek BMC's nod for Dussehra rally at Shivaji Park

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has received applications from both the Shiv Sena factions for holding the annual Dussehra rally at the iconic Shivaji Park here, a civic official said. Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray had started the tradition of holding the Dussehra rally at the Shivaji Park in Dadar area of Mumbai. The BMC received an application on October 1 from MLA Sada Sarvankar, belonging to the Shiv Sena led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Ekanth Shinde, and another application from the Shiv Sena (UBT) central office on October 7, the official told PTI. "We have received two applications for the Dussehra rally at the Shivaji Park," the official said. Dussehra festival will be celebrated on October 24 this year. Guj land acquisition completed for Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project

The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) on Monday said it has completed 100 per cent land acquisition in Gujarat for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project. The corporation in a release said the last parcel of land in Gujarat was acquired at Kathore village in Surat district in September. In all, 951.14 hectares of land needed to be acquired in eight districts of Gujarat for the project, it said. With the latest acquisition, 99.95 per cent of land has been acquired for the project across Gujarat, Maharashtra and the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, the release said. Out of 429.71 hectares acquired for the project in neighbouring Maharashtra, 99.83 per cent of the process has been completed, while a total of 7.90 hectares were acquired in the UT, the NHSRCL said. In Gujarat, 133.29 hectares were acquired in Ahmedabad, 110.25 hectares in Kheda, 52.59 hectares in Anand, 142.30 hectares in Vadodara, 140.32 hectares in Bharuch, 160.52 hecta

7 developers booked for carrying out illegal construction in Navi Mumbai

An offence has been registered against seven developers for carrying out construction works without seeking permission from the civic authorities in Navi Mumbai, police said on Sunday. Based on a complaint lodged by an official of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC), the police on Saturday registered a case under the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning (MRTP) Act, an official said. The developers had allegedly been carrying out construction activities at seven locations in Turbhe since August without the NMMC's permission, he said. No arrest has been made in the case and further probe is underway, the official said.
