The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) is planning to bring in a new solar policy with an aim to shift completely to renewable energy, officials said on Tuesday. At a press conference, NDMC member Kuljeeg Chahal said the civic body will encourage the implementation of grid-connected solar plants. "New Delhi Municipal Council has embarked upon an ambitious journey of shifting to 100 per cent renewable energy. "In addition to the broader arrangement of tying up with the renewable energy sources it is also incumbent upon the council to all possible potential of solar energy generation within its jurisdiction," Chahal said in a statement. Quality of telecom services will deteriorate in central Delhi due to the new norms notified by New Delhi Municipal Corporation, telecom infrastructure body DIPA claimed on Saturday. Digital Infrastructure Providers Association (DIPA) has opposed the charges for existing and new mobile towers as well as multiple layers of clearances on case to case basis notified by NDMC on June 22. The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has issued a 37-point guideline giving detailed rules and regulations that need to be followed while installing communication towers in the Lutyens' Delhi, officials said on Friday. In a document issued by the Council on Thursday, the civic body laid down the NDMC policy regarding the installation of communication towers to bring "uniformity" in the area. The installation of towers or antennae should be in a manner that they do not disturb the heritage and aesthetic aspects of the New Delhi area, the document mentioned. The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has raised the annual health licence fee for several businesses, including restaurants, hotels, banquet halls and theatres, and the highest increase is of Rs 5,300 for five-star hotels. The increase ranged between Rs 100 and Rs 5,300 across categories, an NDMC official said. There has been no increase in health licence fee for a few categories of business such as laundry, boiler, hawking and dairy booths, he added. An order was issued on May 6 for the increase in fees with effect from April 1. The health licence fee for a five-star hotel was increased from Rs 75,300 to Rs 80,600, the highest across categories. Some businesses such as meat shops, hawking on cycle, water trolley and ice-cream trolley saw an increase of Rs 100. An NDMC official said six varieties of flowers have been sought in a tender floated by the civic body last week. The six varieties are Celosia and Balsam, Cosmos, Gaillardia, Vinca Hybrid variety and the Zinnia. The New Delhi Municipal Council has prepared a draft policy to regularise scores of unauthorised cellular towers in Lutyens' Delhi, officials said on Saturday. There are around 240 unauthorised cellular towers. Out of these, 140 are located on government buildings and the rest on private buildings, an NDMC official said. The draft policy aims to modify the rules for the installation of communication towers by cellular and basic telecom operators on rooftops and ground bases within the premises and in the area under the jurisdiction of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC).
