Revenue growth for multiplexes will slow down to 10-15 per cent in FY25 from the 20-24 per cent expected in FY24, a domestic ratings agency said on Wednesday. The profit margins will widen marginally, but will continue to be lower than the pre-pandemic levels due to the competition faced by the industry from over the top service providers like Netflix and Amazon Prime, the report by Crisil Ratings said. The topline will grow 10-15 per cent to Rs 7,300 crore in FY25, it estimated, adding that in FY24, the revenue growth was higher due to a slew of big-budget releases, especially from Hindi films like Gadar 2 and Jawan, it said. The operating profit will grow by 4 percentage points to 14 per cent in FY24 on the rising revenues, and will widen further to 15 per cent in FY25, the agency said. "But that number (margins) will still be lower than the pre-pandemic level of 18-20 per cent, given the competition from Over-The-Top (OTT) content," the report said. The agency said OTT continue

OTT platform Netflix on Thursday told the Bombay High Court that it would not release the documentary series on Indrani Mukerjea, who is facing trial for allegedly killing her daughter Sheena Bora, till February 29. A division bench of Justices Revati Mohite Dere and Manjusha Deshpande directed the makers of the series to hold a special screening of the series for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the prosecuting agency. The docu-series, titled 'The Indrani Mukerjea Story: The Buried Truth', delves into the disappearance of 25-year-old Bora and was scheduled to premiere on streaming platform Netflix on February 23 (Friday). The CBI had filed a petition in the high court, seeking a stay on its release till the trial in the case is complete. Ranbir Kapoor-starrer "Animal" will start streaming on Netflix from January 26, the platform announced on Thursday. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the film also stars Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna and Triptii Dimri. The Delhi High Court has issued summons to Super Cassettes and Netflix on a plea by Cine 1 Studios, a co-producer of Bollywood film "Animal", seeking to restrain the release of the movie on digital streaming platforms and its satellite broadcast. The movie, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, was released in theatres on December 1, 2023 and is set to be released on Netflix on January 26. The high court issued summons to Super Cassettes Industries Pvt Ltd, a co-producer of the film, and Cluver Max Entertainment Pvt Ltd (formerly known as Sony Pictures Networks Ltd) with whom an agreement was signed for granting of satellite rights of the film. Justice Sanjeev Narula said the three defendants shall also file affidavits of admission or denial of the documents produced by the plaintiff, without which their written statements will not be taken on record.
