Noida society asks bachelor tenants to vacate, cites violation of rules

Noida's Emerald Court society, where the now-demolished twin towers were located, has issued notices to bachelor tenants to vacate premises, citing violation of its rules. The residential body of the posh society in Sector 93A said they had been getting complaints from other residents because of which notices have been issued to those living as paying guests (PGs). This is not a new rule. It's an old rule of the society mentioned in the notice. Some people in the society violated that rule to operate PGs and we were getting complaints related to administration of the society by other residents, Uday Bhan Singh Teotia, president of Emerald Court residents' association told PTI. This notice is to check the violation of the society rule. We have not asked anyone to vacate overnight but given due time of two to three months. The notice was issued in November, Teotia said. The Roseate Hotels and Resorts, owned by the Bird Group, has been selected to develop the first 220-room luxury hotel near the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar, officials said on Monday. The Bird Group, which operates six properties in India and the UK, was chosen to develop this hotel after a competitive bidding process involving some of the leading international and national hospitality groups, according to an official statement by the Noida International Airport (NIA). SC stays NGT orders imposing fines on NOIDA, DJB over untreated waste

The Supreme Court on Monday stayed the order of the National Green Tribunal imposing a fine of Rs 100 crore on NOIDA for failing to prevent untreated sewage from flowing into the Kondli irrigation canal. The top court also stayed the NGT order asking the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) to pay a fine of Rs 50 crore for release of untreated sewage in the Yamuna river in the national capital. "Issue notice. Returnable in eight weeks. Pending further orders, the direction of the National Green Tribunal asking the NOIDA and DJB to pay Rs 100 crore and Rs 50 crore respectively as fine will remain stayed, the bench said.

National Green Tribunal directs sealing of illegal borewells in Noida

The National Green Tribunal has directed the authorities to seal all illegal commercial borewells in Noida. The tribunal has also directed the builders or project proponents to pay interim compensation -- at least 0.5% of their project cost. The green panel was hearing a petition regarding the illegal extraction of groundwater by 40 builders in Noida. The petition alleged that the authorities concerned had failed to prevent illegal commercial extraction of groundwater, resulting in its depletion. A bench of Chairperson AK Goel said the unregulated extraction of groundwater was detrimental to the environment and violated directions of the Supreme Court. The bench, also comprising Justice Sudhir Agarwal and expert member A Senthil Vel, said regulation on groundwater extraction was necessary for conservation and to ensure adequate replenishment. M3M enters Noida property mkt, to invest Rs 2,400 cr in mixed-use project

Realty firm M3M India has bagged a 13-acre land parcel in Noida through e-auctions and plans to invest around Rs 2,400 crore to develop a mixed-use project, its director Pankaj Bansal said on Wednesday. M3M India, which has a major presence in Gurugram, will be foraying into Noida property market through this project. "We have secured a 52,000 square metre plot in Sector 94 through an e-auction conducted by the Noida Authority. We will be entering into the Noida market through this land acquisition," Bansal told PTI. The land has been bought at Rs 827.41 crore through auction, he said, adding that the total acquisition would reach Rs 1,200 crore including lease rent and registration charges. "We are targeting to launch this mixed-use project, comprising of housing, retail and serviced apartments, in February-March next year," Bansal said. Fire breaks out at Noida factory, no casualty reported; rescue ops underway

A fire broke out at a factory in Noida on Monday morning, prompting rescue and relief measures at the site, police said. No casualty was reported in the fire that erupted in the factory located in Phase 2 industrial area around 9 am, a police official said. "Multiple water tenders were rushed at the spot along with firefighters and efforts are being made to douse the blaze," the official said. The local police are also at the spot to assist in the relief measures, the official added. The cause of the fire and damage to the property were yet to be known.

CM Yogi dedicates projects worth Rs 1,670 crore in Noida, Greater Noida

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday dedicated more than a dozen development projects worth Rs 1,670 crore to public in Gautam Buddh Nagar district. The works included Ganga water project for Greater Noida, a city bus terminal and underpasses in Noida, and a major sewage treatment plant (STP) along the Yamuna Expressway, according to an official statement. Noida Police bans use of drones till Nov 2 in view of Prez Murmu's visit

Noida Police on Sunday banned use of drones by any individual or organisation till November 2 in view of President Droupadi Murmu and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's proposed visit to the city, an official statement said. "The programme of seventh edition of the India Water Week is proposed in Gautam Buddh Nagar on November 1 in which the president is proposed to participate while the UP chief minister is also scheduled to visit on October 30 or 31," the statement read. "Therefore, in view of the security of the president and the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, the operation of drones by any private person or organisation will be prohibited from October 29 to November 2," it said. Over dozen fire incidents reported on Diwali in Noida, no casualties

The fire department received more than a dozen calls from Noida and Greater Noida on Diwali, officials said on Tuesday. Chief Fire Officer (CFO) Arun Kumar Singh said, no loss of life was reported in any of the incidents. In two instances, the water tenders and firefighters returned midway after the flames were doused before they arrived at the spot. "Altogether 13 fire incidents were reported from 6 am Monday till 6 am Tuesday. Three fire incidents were reported from homes, including an apartment in a high rise society, while rest were from shops and garbage dumping spots in Noida and Greater Noida," Singh said. Oyo starts internal probe after couple filmed in Noida hotel

Oyo has started an internal probe after Noida police arrested two people who allegedly put a hidden camera in a hotel room and filmed a couple, officials said Saturday. The two accused had booked the same room in the Phase 3 police station area last month where they placed a hidden camera before checking out. After a week, they booked the same room and took the camera out which had recorded the couple in intimate condition, officials said. Additional DCP (Central Noida) Saad Miyan Khan said the duo had made extortion attempt with the couple threatening to release their video online. Residents clash in Noida society, 2 security guards detained: Police

Two private security guards of a housing complex here were taken into police custody over clashes between two groups of residents, officials said on Friday. The two groups of the residents of Hyde Park in Sector 78, located within the Sector 113 police station limits, clashed on Thursday night, resulting in minor injuries to two women, they added. "The clashes broke out between the residents over the post of president of the society's Apartment Owners' Association (AOA). The guards also got involved in the fight, leading to injuries to two women," a police official said. "Two guards have been detained following a complaint from the injured women and further investigation is underway," the police official said. Police said CCTV footage is being analysed to ascertain the sequence of events. Video clips purportedly of the clash are circulating on social media platforms. In one of the clips, a woman is seen slapping a security guard.

All Noida schools to stay closed on Monday following heavy rains

All schools across Noida and Greater Noida in Gautam Buddh Nagar will stay close on Monday on account of excessive rainfall, according to an official order. The closure will be applicable for all classes up to 12th and to all schools across boards, the order stated. "Due to excessive rain in the district and keeping in view the possibility of excessive rain, the District Magistrate of Gautam Budh Nagar has declared a holiday on October 10 (Monday) in government, semi-government aided and unaided recognized schools of all the boards operating from class 1 to 12 of the district," District School Inspector Dharamveer Singh said.
