IAF jet shoots down Pakistani military drone in Bikaner

A Sukhoi-30 fighter jet of the Indian Air Force on Monday shot down a Pakistani military drone in Bikaner sector of the Indo-Pak border using an air-to-air missile, government sources said. The Pakistani drone was detected by a ground-based radar station and minutes later one of the Sukhoi-30 jets deployed in the area to keep an eye on Indian air space shot it down, they said. The Pakistani military drone was targeted at around 11:30 AM in Bikaner-Nal sector in Rajasthan, the sources said. It was the second unsuccessful attempt by Pakistan to send a spy drone inside India in the last six days. A Pakistani drone was shot down by India on February 27 along the Indo-Pak border in Kutch in Gujarat. The Indian Air Force has kept all its bases in Western sector on maximum alert after India carried out a strike on the biggest terrorist training camp of Jaish-e-Mohammed in Pakistan's Balakot on February 26. Delhi BJP faults AAP govt for procuring 1,000 e-buses

The BJP Monday faulted the Delhi government for deciding to procure 1,000 e-buses, claiming the infrastructure to run the battery-operated vehicles was not there in the city. The AAP government on Saturday approved a proposal to add 1,000 low-floor AC electric buses to the national capital's public transport fleet, making Delhi the first city in the country to have such large number of environment-friendly vehicles. Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari attacked the AAP government saying it always accused Modi government of obstructing it from functioning, and still it managed to go for such a large number of e-buses. "After, four years now Kejriwal government is going to procure 1,000 e-buses, although he always accused Modi government of stopping it from working," Tiwari said in a press conference. He also alleged "corruption" in procurement of buses. The AAP dismissed the allegations as "laughable", while giving point wise answers to charges made by the BJP "BJP is making laughable ...

Use common sense, Modi tells Oppn on his Rafale remarks; Cong demands apology from PM

Asking opposition parties to use common sense, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Monday slammed them for questioning his statement that the presence of Rafale fighter jets would have given greater firepower to the IAF during the February 27 aerial engagement with Pakistan. As the political dogfight over Modi's remarks escalated with the Congress demanding an apology from him for trying to portray the Indian Air Force as being weaker without Rafale, IAF chief Air Chief Marshal B S Dhanoa declined to comment on the statement that the French jets would have made a difference. "I said if Rafale was acquired in time it would have made a difference (during the February 27 dogfight), but they(opposition parties) say Modi is questioning our air force strike," Modi said, addressing a gathering in Jamnagar in Gujarat. "Please use common sense. What I said was if we had Rafale at the time (of aerial dogfight), then none of our fighter jets would have gone down and none of theirs saved," he added. ...

Trump claims Cohen hearing may have hurt North Korea summit

President Donald Trump is suggesting that a congressional hearing Democrats arranged with his former personal attorney may have contributed to his failure to reach a deal with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Trump left his summit in Vietnam with the North Korean leader last week without reaching an agreement after Trump said he wasn't willing to give in to Kim's demand to lift US sanctions at this time. After sending his national security adviser, John Bolton, to the Sunday talk shows to paint the summit as a success, Trump lashed out at Democrats in a tweet Sunday night, criticizing their decision to hold the hearing featuring his former lawyer Michael Cohen while he was overseas. "For the Democrats to interview in open hearings a convicted liar & fraudster, at the same time as the very important Nuclear Summit with North Korea, is perhaps a new low in American politics and may have contributed to the 'walk,'" Trump tweeted. "Never done when a president is overseas. Shame!" The .

After Pulwama, IAF received indication of air strike option to avenge terror attack: sources

The IAF's massive pre-planned day-night exercise in Rajasthan's Pokhran desert close to the Pakistan border on February 16 underwent certain changes in its format following the Pulwama attack after the government considered an air strike option across the LoC which was carried out 10 days later, official sources said Monday.
