Ruling TRS MLA all set to be elected Dy Speaker of TL assembly

Former minister and ruling TRS MLA T Padmarao is all set to be elected Deputy Speaker of the Telangana legislative Assembly as no other nomination was received for the postSaturday. TRS working president and MLA K T Rama Rao reached out to its ally AIMIM and also opposition Congress, BJP and others, who agreed to the proposal and supported the Padmarao's candidature, TRS sources said. No other nomination was received and Padmaraos election would be announced in the House on Monday,legislative assembly sources said. Padmarao, an MLA from Secunderabad, had served as a minister during the previous TRS regime. TRS has 88 MLAs in the 119-member house. Its ally MIMs strength is seven.

Afghanistan writes to UNSC, raises issue of violation of territory by Pakistan

The Afghanistan Government in a letter to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) raised the issue of "consistent violations of Afghanistan's territory" by Pakistani forces.According to Tolo News, Kabul, in its second letter to the humanitarian organisation in a week, also called on the United Nations to initiate "necessary measures to address the matter at hand in an effective manner."The first letter written by the Afghan government to the UN was about a planned meeting between Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan and Taliban's representatives in Islamabad.In the letter, the Afghan government had stated that the meeting 'undermines' the Afghan peace process and 'violates Afghanistan's national sovereignty'.However, the meeting was later called off by the Taliban saying that they are unable to travel due to UN and US travel restrictions on them.In the letter to UNSC dated February 22, the Deputy Permanent Representative of Afghanistan to United Nation, Nazifullah Salarzai wrote, ..

Nagaland AG makes statement in House to buttress CM's point

DMK invites applications from poll ticket aspirants

The DMK Saturday invited applications from party ticket aspirants for the Lok Sabha elections and the bypolls expected to 21 assembly constituencies in the state. While the applications will be available in the party headquarters 'Anna Arivalayam,' from February 25, the filled-in papers should be submitted before 6 PM on March 7. Applications along with a fee of Rs 25,000 (apart from Rs 1,000 for the application form) will be accepted from March 1 at the party office, the DMK said in a release. The party clarified that in case the constituencies the cadres aspired to were to be allotted to allies, the application fee would be returned to them. Nagaland CM moves govt resolution against Citizenship Bill

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio Saturday tabled a government resolution in the state Assembly which outrightly rejected Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB), 2016. Additional paramilitary troops in JK as part of routine pre-election exercise: MHA sources

The deployment of 10,000 additional paramilitary troops in Jammu and Kashmir is a routine pre-election exercise ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, Home Ministry sources said Saturday. There has been intense speculation in the wake of the Centre sending 100 additional companies (100 personnel in each company) of paramilitary forces to the Kashmir Valley on an urgent basis and a simultaneous crackdown on separatists in which 150 people have been arrested . "The deployment of additional forces is a routine exercise related to pre-election induction," a source said. Among the 100 companies of paramilitary forces, 45 were from the CRPF, 35 were from the BSF and 10 each from the SSB and the ITBP.
