India to have more than 60% power generation from RE by 2030, says minister
India will have more than 65 per cent of its power generation capacity from non-fossil fuels by 2030, Power and New & Renewable Energy Minister RK Singh said on Monday. Addressing a CII conference on green energy, he explained that India is aiming for 65 per cent of power generation capacity from non-fossil fuels but the country will have more than that. India will have 90 GW of solar equipment manufacturing capacity by 2030, up from 20 GW at present, he added. He also informed that about 15-20 GW of solar equipment manufacturing capacity is under construction and India will have 40 GW of such facilities under Production-Linked Incentive Scheme-II (PLI-II). "We shall have 90GW plus solar manufacturing capacity by 2030 right from the polysilicon to modules. We already have 20GW (solar manufacturing capacity). we already know that 15-20 GW of solar manufacturing capacity is under construction. You will further have 40 GW of solar manufacturing capacity (addition), which is going to .

State-run power giant NTPC said it has logged 15.1 per growth in power generation at 203.5 billion units (BU) during April-September 2022. The high generation growth indicates improved performance and an increase in demand for power in the current year, it added. "NTPC group companies recorded a generation of 203.5 BU from April to September 2022, registering an increase of 15.1% from 176.8 BU generated in April to September 2021," the company said in a statement. NTPC Rihand (3,000 MW) in Uttar Pradesh was the top performing thermal power plant with 90.22 per cent Plant Load Factor (PLF or capacity utilisation) between April to September 2022. Overall PLF of NTPC coal stations stood at 76.3 per cent in the period under review. The total installed capacity of NTPC is 70,234 MW. NTPC is expanding its footprint in new business areas like green hydrogen, waste-to-energy and e-mobility. India's largest power producer is also aiming for a 10 per cent reduction in net energy intensity b

Good rainfall in the catchment area of the Sardar Sarovar dam in Gujarat's Narmada district has led to the generation of 2,142 million units (MUs) of hydropower so far this year, nearly double as compared to the corresponding period last year. The month of August has contributed the most to it, the official data has shown. As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), both Gujarat and neighbouring Madhya Pradesh have received excess rainfall this monsoon season. Of the Narmada river's total basin area of 97,410 sq km, a total of 85,858 sq km area lies in Madhya Pradesh and 9,894 sq km in Gujarat. From the River Bed Power House (RBPH) turbines at the dam located in Kevadia, 2,142 MUs of electricity was produced till September 20 this year as compared to 1,129 MUs units till September end in 2021, the data shared by the Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited (SSNNL) said. RBPH's installed capacity is 1,200 MW. Of the 2,142 MUs, a total of 1,849 MUs were generated in the monsoon .
