State-owned NHPC on Thursday reported a 37 per cent fall in consolidated net profit to Rs 1,069.28 crore in the September quarter compared to the year-ago period due to exceptional expenses. It had posted a Rs 1,693.26 crore net profit for the period ended September 2023, the company said in an exchange filing. The company's total income increased to Rs 3,402.09 crore from Rs 3,113.82 crore in the second quarter of 2023-24. Expenses increased to Rs 1,831.08 crore in the second quarter of FY25 from Rs 1,573.54 crore in the year-ago quarter. According to the company filing, NHPC paid interest on contractor claims settled under the Vivad se Vishwas Il, Scheme (Contractual Disputes) of the government during the quarter and half year ended September 30, 2024 amounting to Rs 203.12 crore and Rs 350.03 crore, respectively.
State-owned SAIL on Thursday reported a 31 per cent fall in consolidated net profit to Rs 897.15 crore in the September quarter, dragged by lower income. It had posted a Rs 1,305.59 crore net profit for the period ended September 2023, the company said in an exchange filing. The company's total income decreased to Rs 24,842.18 crore from Rs 29,858.19 crore in the second quarter of preceding 2023-24 financial year. Its expenses stood at Rs 23,824.07 crore as against Rs 27,768.60 crore in the year-ago quarter. In a separate statement, the company said its crude steel output fell marginally to 4.76 million tonnes (MT) from 4.76 MT in July-September last fiscal. Sales also decreased to 4.10 MT from 4.77 MT in the same quarter a year ago. JK Lakshmi Cement has reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 19.24 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2024 on account of drop in sales realisation. The company had posted a profit of Rs 95.87 crore in the July-September period a year ago, according to a regulatory filing from JK Lakshmi Cement Ltd (JKCL), a flagship company of JK Organization. Its revenue from operations was down 2.16 per cent at Rs 1,234.29 crore in the September quarter. It was at Rs 1,574.53 crore in the year-ago period. Total expenses of JKCL were at Rs 1,263.01 crore, down 1.27 per cent in the September quarter of FY25. Staffing company TeamLease Services on Wednesday reported a 10.12 per cent decline in consolidated net profit to Rs 24.85 crore for the quarter ending September 2024. The company's net profit stood at Rs 27.65 crore during the corresponding period of the previous financial year, TeamLease Services said in a regulatory filing. Its revenue from operations rose 23 per cent to Rs 2,796.83 crore in the quarter under review compared to Rs 2,272.60 crore a year ago. "We have crossed 3.5 lakh billable headcount in our employment cluster owing to strong growth across sectors. Novelis Inc, the US-based aluminium producer and subsidiary of Hindalco Industries, on Wednesday reported an 18 per cent decline in net income to USD 128 million in the September quarter of 2024-25. The US-based company, which deals in aluminium rolled products, had reported a net income of USD 157 million in the same period of the last financial year, the company said in a filing to BSE. "Net income attributable to our common shareholder decreased 18% versus the prior year to USD 128 million in the second quarter of fiscal year 2025," the filing said. Net sales for the second quarter rose by 4.5 per cent to USD 4,295 million over USD 4,107 million in the year-ago period, mainly driven by higher average aluminium prices and a one per cent rise in total flat rolled product shipments to 945 kilotonnes.
