CSB Bank on Monday posted a 4 per cent decline in its profit at Rs 150 crore in the third quarter ended December 2023. The Kerala-based private sector bank had earned a net profit of Rs 156 crore in the same quarter a year ago. The total income increased to Rs 887 crore during the quarter under review, as against Rs 682 crore in the same period last year, CSB Bank said in a regulatory filing. The interest income of the bank rose to Rs 762 crore, as against Rs 592 crore in the third quarter of previous year. As regards, asset quality, gross Non-Performing Assets (NPAs) of the bank declined to 1.22 per cent of the gross loans by the end of December 2023, from 1.45 per cent a year ago. Similarly, net NPAs or bad loans came down to 0.31 per cent, from 0.42 per cent at the end of the third quarter of the previous fiscal.

Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd (JPVL) on Monday posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 172.85 crore in the December quarter compared to the year-ago period. The company had suffered a loss of Rs 217.97 crore in the quarter that ended on December 31, 2022, a BSE filing stated. Total income rose to Rs 2,213.68 crore in the quarter from Rs 1,206.06 crore in the same period a year ago.

State-owned gas utility GAIL (India) Ltd on Monday reported a 10-fold jump in its third quarter net profit as all engines of its business -- from gas transportation to marketing and petrochemicals -- fired on all cylinders. Standalone net profit of the the nation's largest gas transmission and marketing firm came at Rs 2,842.62 crore in October-December -- the third quarter of the current fiscal year that started in April 2023 -- as compared to Rs 245.73 crore earning a year back, the company said in a statement. The net profit was better than Rs 2,404.89 crore earning in the preceding quarter. This came on the back of pre-tax earnings from the gas transportation business jumping nearly three-fold to Rs 1,215.07 crore. Adani Energy Solution (AEML) on Monday posted over 27 per cent decline in its consolidated net profit to Rs 348.25 crore in the October-December quarter compared to the year-ago period. The country's e largest private power transmission and distribution company had reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 478.07 crore in the quarter ended on December 31, 2022, driven by a one-time regulatory income of Rs 240 crore. AEML in an exchange filing explained that the net profit in the third quarter of this fiscal includes a miscellaneous income of Rs 136 crore on account of the USD 120 million bond buy-back. The comparable PAT of Rs 281 crore was 1 per cent higher compared to Rs 280 crore in the year-ago quarter. Utkarsh Small Finance Bank on Saturday posted a 24 per cent increase in its profit at Rs 116 crore in the third quarter ended December 2023. The bank had earned a net profit of Rs 93.5 crore in the same quarter a year ago. Total income rose to Rs 889 crore during the quarter under review as against Rs 712 crore in the year-ago period, the bank said in a regulatory filing. The bank's interest income grew to Rs 806 crore as compared to Rs 641 crore in the October-December period of the previous financial year. As regards asset quality, gross Non-Performing Assets (NPAs) of the bank declined to 3.04 per cent of the gross loans by the end of December 2023 from 3.58 per cent a year ago. Similarly, net NPAs or bad loans came down to 0.19 per cent from 0.72 per cent at the end of the third quarter in FY22.
Mangalam Cement Ltd on Saturday reported a multi-fold jump in its net profit to Rs 15.95 crore for the quarter ended in December 2023. The company had posted a profit of Rs 0.52 crore in the October-December quarter a year ago, according to a regulatory filing. Its revenue from operations was up 2.38 per cent to Rs 439.43 crore during the quarter under review against Rs 429.19 crore in the year-ago period. Total expenses in the December quarter were down 5.3 per cent to Rs 418.06 crore against Rs 441.50 crore in the third quarter of FY23.
Realty firm sees strong demand boost, with sales and income surging
Realty firm Macrotech Developers Ltd on Saturday reported a 25 per cent increase in its consolidated net profit to Rs 505 crore for the third quarter of this fiscal year. Its net profit stood at Rs 405 crore in the year-ago period. Total income rose to Rs 2,958.7 crore in the October-December period of the 2023-24 financial year from Rs 1,902.4 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year, according to a regulatory filing. Mumbai-based Macrotech Developers is one of the leading real estate developers in the country. The company markets its properties under Lodha brand.
Chennai-based Equitas Small Finance Bank on Thursday reported a healthy set of numbers with net income rising over 18 per cent to Rs 202 crore in the three months ended December 2023, helped by better asset quality. It had a net profit of Rs 170 crore in the year ago period. Gross advances rose 32 per cent to Rs 32,776 crore in the third quarter of the current fiscal, according to a statement. The net interest margin stood at 8.37 per cent while the net interest income grew 21 per cent in the latest December quarter. The bank's asset quality improved massively, with gross bad loans falling to 2.38 per cent of the total advances from 3.46 per cent in the year-ago period.

Cholamandalam Investment & Finance Company on Thursday reported a 28 per cent increase in net profit to Rs 876 crore for the December quarter driven by higher disbursements and the resultant interest income. The Chennai-based company disbursed 27 per cent more loans at Rs 22,383 crore in the quarter, taking the overall loan book to Rs 63,940 crore, which jumped 40 per cent on-year. The total AUM stood at Rs 1,41,143 crore which was 36 per cent more than the year-ago period. Net interest income for the quarter rose by 41 per cent to Rs 2,580 crore.
