More than 500 complaints were received from across Rajasthan on the C-Vigil app in just 48 hours of the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct in the state, officials said on Wednesday. District Election Officers, or Returning Officers, found 134 complaints correct and resolved them within the stipulated time. Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Gupta said 115 complaints were rejected by the Returning Officers, while six complaints are still pending. The remaining 242 complaints were rejected by the District Control Room at its level, he said. Gupta said that the maximum number of complaints (79) were received from Jaipur district. He said that the C-Vigil app allows resolution of a complaint received on it within 100 minutes. The CEO said that till now lack of documentary evidence in the form of photographs or videos was a hindrance in verification of the complaint, but the app is working to bridge all these gaps.

The Rajasthan government on Saturday issued an order to conduct a caste survey in the state. The order came just days after Bihar released the findings of its caste survey and ahead of the assembly polls in Rajasthan due later this year. Rajasthan, ruled by the Congress, will be the second state in the country to conduct such a population count. The order was issued by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment after the state cabinet's nod. According to the order, the Rajasthan government will conduct the survey with its own resources for collecting information and figures related to social, economic and educational level of all its citizens. The Department of Planning (Economic and Statistics) has been made the nodal department for the work. However, the order does not provide a time frame for the conduct of the population count. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday night announced that Rajasthan will conduct a caste survey along the lines of the one done in Bihar. The issue was discussed at a core committee meeting of the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee (RPCC) held at the party's war room here. The meeting was attended by Congress in-charge for Rajasthan Sukhjinder Randhawa, CM Gehlot, RPCC president Govind Singh Dotasra and other leaders. "The Rajasthan government will also conduct a caste survey like the one held in Bihar," Gehlot told reporters after the meeting. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday announced the formation of three new districts in the state -- Malpura, Sujangarh and Kuchman City. The chief minister said Rajasthan will now have 53 districts. "As per public demand and recommendation of a high-level committee, three new districts will be created in Rajasthan," Gehlot posted on X. "In future also, matters related to demarcation of districts will continue to be resolved in accordance with the recommendations of the high-level committee, " he added. The state government had formed 17 new districts earlier in August this year.
