CM Adityanath attends all-party meeting ahead of UP monsoon session

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday attended all-party meeting chaired by Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana ahead of the Monsoon Session beginning from Monday. No deputy speaker in eight state assemblies, says think tank report

Amid a debate over the absence of a deputy speaker in the Lok Sabha, data compiled by a think tank shows eight state assemblies not having anyone in the position, with Jharkhand not electing one for more than 20 years. According to a report on the Annual Review of State Laws, 2024, released by PRS Legislative Research, state assemblies sat for an average of 20 days, amounting to an average of 100 hours in total, last year. Article 178 of the Constitution requires state assemblies to choose two members as speaker and deputy speaker as soon as possible, according to the report. Assemblies of eight states and Union territories did not have a deputy speaker as of April 2025, the think tank said in the report. The list includes Jharkhand, which has not elected a deputy speaker for more than 20 years. First session of Delhi's 8th Assembly begins post BJP's return to power

The first session of the newly constituted Delhi Assembly commenced on Monday, marking the BJP's return to power after 26 years and its shift to the right side of the Speaker's chair. Order bans night use of loudspeakers and DJ systems in Bhopal district

The district administration in Bhopal has banned the use of loud sound systems including at religious places, to curb noise pollution from 10 PM to 6 AM. This order comes as a relief for students appearing for upcoming board examinations for 10th and 12th. Additionally, owners of DJs (systems), hotels, restaurants and bars will have to apply for licenses for using sound systems allowed within prescribed limits. Violators will be prosecuted under section 163 of the Bhartiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). The ban came into effect on January 23. The Additional District Magistrate (ADM) stated that the order complies with the directives issued by the Supreme Court and the National Green Tribunal regarding loudspeakers and checking noise pollution.
