Bombay HC bars MCA from using water from Pavana dam

The Bombay High Court on Wednesday barred Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) from using water from Pavana dam for maintaining Pune ground for Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 matches till further orders.On April 13, Bombay High Court issued a notice to MCA and sought reply on how they will arrange water for maintaining the ground for the IPL matches to be held in Pune.The development comes a day after the remaining IPL matches of Chennai Super Kings were shifted from the state to the MCA's International Stadium in Pune in the wake of the ongoing protest against the Centre's negligence for the formation of Cauvery Management Board (CMB).Issuing the notice, the Bombay High Court asked the MCA to explain how they would arrange water for preparing and maintaining ground in Pune to conduct matches of IPL shifted from Chennai to Pune.The notice was issued in a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by the NGO Loksatta Movement in 2016. Headquarters Dakshin Bharat Area (DBA) bagged the overall Southern Command Cross Country Championship, with Havildar B Srinu winning the 10 KM championship held at the Madras Regiment Centre at Wellington in Nilgiris District today. Srinu of DBA clocked the best timing of 32.10 minutes. Sepoy H Lingaraj, also of DBA, and Naib subedar Karan Singh of Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa (MGG) area followed with timings of 32.28 m and 32.41 m to claim individual medals. DBA emerged the overall champions.
