Arsenal must make home advantage count against Napoli, says Lacazette

Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette has stressed the importance of securing a positive result in the home leg of their Europa League quarter-final against Napoli on Thursday because of the club's poor away form. The Gunners have won just five Premier League games on their travels all season, losing 1-0 at Everton last weekend to damage their chances of securing a top-four finish. Emery's side have been defeated in their past two trips abroad in Europa League knockout games, having to turn around ties against BATE Borisov and Rennes to set up the last-eight meeting with Carlo Ancelotti's Italian side. This time Arsenal are at home first and their form at the Emirates could not be in starker contrast to their away-day blues, with just one league defeat on their own turf all season. "We know we are better at home than we are away, so tomorrow is really important for us," said Frenchman Lacazette. "We also know we can get a good result away, so both games are going to be important for ...

Lalremsiami strikes in India's 1-0 win over Malaysia

The Indian women's hockey team Wednesday struck a late goal through youngster Lalremsiami to beat hosts Malaysia and take an unassailable lead in the five-match bilateral series here. India won the first two matches 3-0 and 5-0 followed by a 4-4 draw in their previous game. Lalremsiami's sensational 55th-minute goal ensured the team secured a narrow win in a hard-fought contest that saw Malaysia give their all to put up a defensive game. Though it was Malaysia who made a strong start with an early penalty corner (PC) in the first minute of the game, a very alert India goalkeeper Savita made a good save. India too earned a PC in the following minute but did not succeed. With India's ace dragflicker Gurjit Kaur missing the tour due to an injury, they lost out on five penalty corner opportunities in this game. But the team did well to sustain pressure with tight marking inside the circle giving Malaysia no real chance to take a shot on goal. Having missed out on PCs, India looked for a ..

RR batting coach backs Smith and Stokes to perform against CSK

Steve Smith and Ben Stokes are yet to sizzle this IPL but Rajasthan Royals batting coach Amol Mazumdar on Wednesday reposed faith on their abilities and backed the duo to come good in the next match against Chennai Super Kings. Former Australian skipper Smith was banned for a year for his role in the ball-tampering scandal that rocked Australian cricket last year. On road to redemption, Smith found the going tough in the first three matches this IPL season. However, the Australian seemed to regain some form when he hit an unbeaten 73 against Kolkata Knight Riders in a losing cause. England all-rounder Ben Stokes too hasn't looked menacing, though he had scores of 48 and 46 and took four wickets so far. "I feel we are one of the strongest squad and Steve Smith is a proven customer all over the world," Amol said on the eve of Rajasthan Royals' match against Chennai Super Kings. "Just before what happened, he was best batsman in the world. He has spent just a little of time in the ...
