Actor, Karate legend and archery exponent Shihan Hussaini died in the wee hours of Tuesday after battling against blood cancer at a private hospital here, his family said. Hussaini, affectionately known as Hu, was a sculptor, painter and an inspiration to hundreds of young minds in taking up martial arts and archery. He was 60. He is survived by his wife and daughter. CB-CID to probe attack on YouTuber 'Savukku' Shankar's house, says DGP

The Tamil Nadu Police' CB-CID wing will probe the incident of a group barging into popular Youtuber and political activist, 'Savukku' Shankar's house here and pouring sewage, the DGP's office has said. The move comes in the wake Shankar making "certain allegations against the Greater Chennai Police and the Commissioner of Police," in an interview, a release from the office of Director General of Police, Shankar Jiwal, said. Tamil Nadu has emerged as a key beneficiary under the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, receiving a significant share of projects in the electronics and automobile sectors, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said. Addressing an event organised by Chennai Citizens' forum on Saturday evening, Sitharaman dismissed charges of the state government that the Centre has neglected Tamil Nadu in terms of funding. She said major 'big ticket' projects have been announced and are progressing at various stages of implementation across the State. "Tamil Nadu has been the largest beneficiary under the PLI- scheme in electronics, electronic parts and automobiles. Asserting that the proposed delimitation exercise based on population would not be "fair" to southern states, the DMK-led Joint Action Committee meeting on Saturday demanded that the Centre should extend the freeze on Parliamentary constituencies, based on the 1971 Census population, by another 25 years and decided to submit a joint representation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the ongoing Parliamentary session. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Saturday alleged that federalism, which forms part of the basic structure of the Constitution, is getting affected in recent times. Addressing an event held by the Madras Bar Association here, the chief minister said an independent judiciary, judges and lawyers who act like pillars against any attacks on the Constitution, safeguard and provide sustenance to it. He said: "In recent times, I see that federalism, which is one of the basic features of the Constitution, is getting affected. Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw on Saturday said two electronics manufacturing clusters worth Rs 1,112 crore, will be set up in Tamil Nadu. Speaking at the inauguration of Zetwerk Electronics' seventh manufacturing facility in Sriperumbudur, about 55 kms from here, Vaishnaw highlighted that the electronics industry has become the country's second largest export sector, surpassing several traditional industries in the past decade. The new facility, part of a Rs 1,000 crore investment, will produce electronic components for various sectors, including consumer durables and IT hardware, and will serve both domestic and international markets in the future.
