UN-backed Libyan forces launch airstrikes in S Tripoli

The UN-backed Government of National Accord's (GNA) forces launched three airstrikes against the Khalifa Haftar-led Libyan National Army (LNA) here, according to an official statement.Troops near the airport in Tripoli were targeted through two airstrikes. Boko Haram attack: Death toll rises to 37 in Cameroon, 15 terrorists arrested

Local authorities arrested 15 Boko Haram terrorists as the death toll from a recent attack on Darak here rose to 37, including 21 soldiers and 16 civilians."We now know that 21 soldiers and 16 civilians were killed in the attack. We arrested some 15 Boko Haram militants and neutralised some. 65 Rohingyas found shipwrecked in Thailand

A group of 65 Rohingya Muslims have been found on a shipwrecked boat off the coast of southern Thailand, Navy officials said Wednesday as authorities investigated whether they had been trafficked. The boat was discovered early Tuesday in the Tarutao Marine National Park in southern Thailand, some 400 kilometers (250 miles) from the border of Myanmar. Some 740,000 Rohingya have fled Myanmar since a brutal military crackdown in 2017 against the stateless minority in the Buddhist-majority country. Most have escaped into overcrowded refugee camps in Bangladesh, while others have fallen prey to human trafficking rings as they seek better lives in Malaysia or Thailand. Sopore encounter: Body of 1 terrorist retrieved by security forces

The body of a terrorist was recovered by security forces on Wednesday morning after an encounter took place on Tuesday in Bomai area of Sopore in Baramulla district.The encounter broke out at 5:25 pm yesterday between terrorists and the troops of 177, 179 and 92 Battalion of CRPF, SOG Sopore, 22 Rashtriya Rifles (RR).However, the body of the terrorist was retrieved from the site of the encounter but his identity and affiliation is being ascertained, Jammu and Kashmir Police said."On a credible input, a cordon and search operation was launched jointly by police and security forces at the area. A terrorist has been killed in an overnight gunfight with security forces in Sopore area of Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district, a police official said Wednesday. The exchange of fire began during a search operation launched by security forces Tuesday evening after they received information that terrorists were present there, the official said. He said the cordon was strengthened to prevent the terrorists from escaping. "In the ensuing gunfight, an unidentified terrorist was killed. Bihar to provide jobs to Pulwama martyrs' families

The Bihar Cabinet on Tuesday decided to give government jobs to the dependents of martyrs of Pulwama and Kupwara terrorist attacks who belong to the state. Ratan Kumar Thakur (Bhagalpur), Sanjay Kumar Sinha (Patna) and Pintu Kumar Singh (Begusarai) were killed in the two incidents in Jammu and Kashmir. The Bihar government will offer the martyrs' dependents a job in Class III and IV category, as per their qualification, Cabinet Secretariat Department's Principal Secretary Sanjay Kumar told reporters here. The cabinet also sanctioned Rs 11.68 crore for preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for construction of a multi-purpose 130-MW Dagmara hydel power project in Supaul district of the state, Kumar said. A total of 15 decisions were taken at the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

Trump says he received a 'beautiful letter' from N Korea's Kim

President Donald Trump said Tuesday that he has received another "beautiful letter" from North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Indicating that he continues to trust Kim, despite making little progress in efforts to get Pyongyang to give up nuclear weapons, Trump said the North Korean strongman "has kept his word." "That's very important to me," he said at the White House. Trump did not divulge what was in the letter from Kim. He has described previous letters as "beautiful" and even said they "fell in love."
